The WPE Prevention Officer will oversee prevention and risk reduction activities such as safety audits and awareness sessions, and efforts to engage the community in IRC sites. The WPE Prevention Officer will provide technical support and guidance to the community focal points. This position will lead all awareness raising and information dissemination activities with the community to ensure services are accessible to women and girls. The Prevention Officer will also seek to ensure data collection and entry is completed accurately and according to GBV confidentially best practices, for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and will review and submit to WPE Manager/M&E Manager on a regular basis. The position requires a personal commitment to advancing women’s issues and working on behalf of women and girls in the community. Further, s/he will assist with the facilitation of awareness-raising sessions. This position will be based in Southern Shan.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesTechnical Quality
Conduct Emergency Response in Southern Shan State including providing information sessions, mobilizing communities, distribution of dignity kits, and safety checks with women and girlsIdentify the needs of women and girls, and provide PFA, PSS and facilitate referrals in emergency context Work closely with WPE Senior Response Officer to identify community volunteers and provide capacity building training and coaching to the volunteers. Work closely with volunteers to facilitate GBV prevention discussions with community leaders, IDPs and host communities including male engagement sessions in emergency contextSupport for establishment of temporary safe spaces for women and girls including safe space assessmentPromote GBV Guiding Principles of safety, confidentiality, non-discrimination, and respect throughout all WPE activities.Assist in the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid in effected communities.Conduct field assessments, collect data, and report on urgent needs.Facilitate community engagement and ensure beneficiaries’ participation in Emergency Response activities.Identify challenges in the field and propose solutions to improve response effectiveness.Perform any other duties related to emergency response activities as assigned Grant Monitoring & Reporting Prepare and submit regular work plans and activity reports for supervisor review and feedbackPrepare and submit financial and MEAL documentation as required by IRC policies. Coordination & Representation Assist with monthly supervision and coordination meetings. Make sure meeting updates and decisions are shared with the wider group. Partner with other government actors, other humanitarian agencies, and communities to identify, address and respond to community concerns related to service provision and access to services and to promote the needs of women and girls. Attend meetings on behalf of the WPE program as relevant or requested. Key Working RelationshipsThis position reports to the WPE Senior WPE Officer. The WPE Prevention Officer will work closely with WPE ER team and Community volunteers. The Prevention Officer will engage local Partners/organizations, community leaders, IDP and host community stakeholders in their work. The Prevention Officer will engage with other sectors in the IRC to deliver integrated programming.
