The Maintenance Team Lead mechanic & electric and automation afternoon and evening is responsible for leading and overseeing the maintenance operations during the afternoon and evening at the Lengnau facility. This role involves supervising a team of specialists in mechanics & utilities, instrumentation & electrics and automation, ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of equipment, and maintaining compliance with GMP standards. The Team Lead will also play a key role in troubleshooting issues, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring a smooth flow across teams during the day. Additionally, this role and the team are responsible for afternoon and evening support of manufacturing operations, addressing any breakdowns affecting manufacturing batches. This role is explicitly for a afternoon and evening activities between 13:00 – 22:00 Mo-Fr.

Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Technical Responsibilities

Lead afternoon and evening Maintenance Team: Supervise and lead a team of 4 direct reports, including a Mechanical & Utilities Specialists, Instrumentation & Electrics Specialist, and Automation Specialist.Assign tasks, inspect work, and provide guidance and support.Support Manufacturing Operations: Provide afternoon and evening support for manufacturing operations, addressing any equipment breakdowns that affect manufacturing batches to ensure minimal disruption.Ensure Equipment Reliability: Oversee the maintenance and repair of all equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This includes process equipment, utilities, instrumentation, and automation systems.Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Quickly respond to and troubleshoot equipment issues that arise during afternoon and evening activities. Implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.Coordinate with other Departments: Work closely with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure alignment with production schedules and priorities.Maintain Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with GMP standards and safety regulations. Document work performed and maintain accurate records.Support Continuous Improvement: Find opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.Train and Develop Team: Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback.Manage team Handover: Ensure a smooth handover between morning and "afternoon and evening" team by documenting and communicating any ongoing issues, completed tasks, and upcoming priorities.

Quality

Adheres to general cGMP rules, Quality policies, procedures and instruction as rolled out by the Quality function and endorsed by the site management.Acitvely contributes to continuous quality improvement initiatives and deviation reporting and follow-up.

EHSS

Adheres to general safety rules, policies, procedures and instructions as rolled out by the EHSS functions and endorsed by the site management.Actively contributes to safety initiatives and issues as well as near miss reporting and follow-up.

Position Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience & Competences

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a GMP manufacturing facility.Demonstrated experience in supervising maintenance teams and managing complex maintenance operations.Proven track record of ensuring equipment reliability and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.Strong understanding of GMP standards and maintenance practices.Strong leadership and team management skills.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Additional Requirements

Experience in managing maintenance operations in a high-tech, automated manufacturing facility.Lead with an open attitude passionate about efficient problem solving.Ability to work independently and demonstrate job ownership.Participation in quality improvement initiatives and deviation reporting.Analytical and concept-based thinking and acting.Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of materials and equipment.Ability to work in cleanroom environments and follow all GMP and safety regulations.
