Systems Backup Resident Engineer

The ideal candidate will be responsible for safeguarding critical information, minimizing data loss risks, and ensuring business continuity through efficient backup strategies. **What you'll be doing** **Key Responsibilities:** + Design, configure, and manage enterprise backup systems, ensuring seamless data protection. + Monitor and maintain backup infrastructure, resolving issues promptly. + Develop backup policies, retention schedules, and disaster recovery procedures. + Perform regular data integrity checks, restorations, and failure simulations to ensure system resilience. + Collaborate with IT security teams to implement encryption and secure storage solutions. + Troubleshoot backup failures, system errors, and storage bottlenecks. + Ensure compliance with industry standards, legal regulations, and corporate policies for data protection. + Document configurations, procedures, and recovery protocols for future reference. + Train staff on backup best practices and recovery procedures. + Interacts with client on site and remote to meet more complex requirements of a solution. + Escalates unresolved problems and issues to the relevant third parties. + Assumes responsibility for the coordination of the activities of the engineers, in line with performance targets, leading by example and monitoring the quality of engineer's and technician's work when required. + Writes reports, completes and maintains project documentation. + Assists with the documentation of standard operating procedures relating to installations and fixes. + Assumes responsibility for the coordination of the activities of the Engineers, in line with performance targets. + May be required to serve periodically on the customer service desk, providing third line telephonic, remote and on-site support and problem management. + Included in complex design work, with input to the design expected. + Expected to take ownership of relevant technologies according to domain or specialization. + Engages vendors for priority escalations or bugs found during deployments. + Performs any other related task as required. **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in **Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field** . + Experience with **enterprise backup solutions** such as Veeam, CommVault, Rubrik, or Veritas NetBackup. + Knowledge of **cloud backup and disaster recovery** strategies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). + Strong understanding of **storage technologies** (SAN, NAS, RAID configurations). + Proficiency in **scripting languages** (PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation. + Familiarity with **virtualization environments** (VMware, Hyper-V). + Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. + Relevant proficiency in following Microsoft technologies - HPE, DELL, VMware, Veeam, CompTIA A+, Cisco UCS Servers, Brocade SAN Switches, Cisco MDS SAN switches, Nutanix, Veritas + Comprehensive understanding and appreciation of technical design principles + Advanced understanding and appreciation of technical design and business principles. + Advanced project fundamental and administration ability. + Advanced project fundamentals which are demonstrated in the execution of installations and other assignments. + Advanced customer engagement skills. + Advanced relevant domain specialist knowledge. + Excellent verbal communication skills. + Client focused and displays a proactive approach to solving problems. + Advanced ability to coach, mentor and provide guidance to team members. + Ability to take ownership as technical lead during project lifecycle. + Advanced proficiency in Visio, LLD and As Build document design. + Advanced ability to engage with Presales and Solution Architect on technical solution and ability to scope effort estimation. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Certifications such as **Certified Backup & Recovery Engineer (CBRE)** , **AWS Certified Solutions Architect** , or **Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate** . + Experience in **cybersecurity and data encryption** for backup protection. + Ability to work in **high-pressure environments** and respond to critical incidents effectively. + Relevant certifications such as - HPE Proliant servers, 3PAR, Primera, Alletra, Simplicity, Synergy, StoreOnce, MSA Storage; Dell PowerEdge servers, Unity, PowerStore, Recoverpoint Appliance/VE, PowerScale Isilon PowerProtect/Data Domain, VxRail; VMware Certified VCP-DCV, vSAN, SRM; Dell Information Storage Associate - DCA-ISM;
