SCOPE OFWORK: The Employmentintern/volunteer supports all aspects of the employment programs (MatchingGrant and Refugee Social Service Employment), including assisting refugeeclients to achieve early self-sufficiency and ensuring IRC meets programrequirements. The Employment Intern/volunteer will work closely with theEmployment Supervisor to support the Employment Coordinator and Specialistsproviding various services including teaching Job Readiness Training, settingup mock interview workshops, building resumes, conducting job searches, andtransportation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Minimum of 10 hours per week for intern
• Provideemployment services directly to clients enrolled in the employment programs,helping them to achieve early self-sufficiency. Works closely with EmploymentCoordinator and Specialists to ensure clients receive seamless and high-qualityservices
• Serves as anadvocate and resource for clients and provides equal treatment to all clientgroups following the agency's commitment to the dignity of all persons
• Coordinatingwith Employment Coordinator and Specialists, work with refugees and asylees toassist with job readiness training (if applicable), resume creation, jobsearch, and job application
• Provideongoing support to program clients while also facilitating access tospecialized local resources, helping them to overcome the barriers they face toachieve their goals for economic and social self-sufficiency
• Trasportclients to appointments such as doctor’s appointments and job interviews
• Working withEmployment Coordinator and Specialists, organize workshops for clients such asjob searches and mock interviews and for local employment partnerships tosupport them in understanding clients and cultural diversification, and IRCemployment programs.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
• Intern will gain exposure to refugee integration in throughprogramming.
• Intern will learn to communicate effectively with clientsacross cultures.
• Intern will learn to implement programming in aresettlement office.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Currentlyenrolled in college/university
• Willingness to learnprograms, clients, and our work
• Self-starterwith problem-solving skills combined with the ability to multi-task, prioritizeduties, and manage time effectively
• Fluent in English,both spoken and written
• Good communicationskills to ask questions, understand tasks, and report to staff
• Proficientin Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); abilityto use the internet and other digital tools if necessary
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle
This position reportsto the Employment Supervisor, Gedeon Jino.
The supervisor of this position will do the following to supervise andsupport the intern/practicum within this opportunity: Intern onboarding, WeeklyCheck-in, and biweekly Employment meeting.
