**The Opportunity**
This position works out of our Menlo Park, CA location in the SH division.

Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease.
As the Staff R&D Engineer, you'll have the chance to use a wide variety of technical skills and leadership skill to lead a R&D team on a product development program. This role requires skills in: technical reasoning, analyzing electrical and mechanical systems, designing electrical and mechanical systems, designing and running tests), improving or resolving product features, documenting findings (e.g. protocol test reports, engineering memos), and finding and updating documents in product management system. This role will also support internal and external customers (e.g. in supporting Marketing, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Regulatory, and Quality Assurance, Physicians, and managing vendors).
**What You’ll Work On**
+ Specify, design, verify, and validate new sensor technologies, associated electrical and mechanical designs for medical device implants and delivery systems in accordance with regulatory standards.
+ Work with the outside vendors to develop user interface that can be integrated with implant and delivery systems.
+ Responsible for the development of technical project plans and schedules covering all engineering activities (meeting all Design Control and process / product development requirements).
+ Leads the development and execution of new processes, equipment, materials, verification and validation. Implements approved Design Control procedures for process development.
+ Independent reviewer on sensors, electrical and mechanical designs and test equipment ensuring all applicable standards are met.
+ Performs complex engineering calculations and relates results to controlled tests, including statistical and tolerance analysis.
+ Develops product specifications, design FMEAS, DOEs, validation protocols. Communicates effectively and leads cross functional development teams.
+ Writing process/product requirements and design specifications; working on a development team with an emphasis on minimizing time to market; design for manufacture of low cost, high volume devices.
+ Subject matter expert for electrical and mechanical designs and product design requirements documents. Technical lead on design reviews.
+ Investigate and evaluate existing technologies.
+ Write and submit intellectual property.
+ Participate in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance and work direction, and offering counsel.
+ Establish and cultivate an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.
+ Participate in determining goals and objectives for projects. Influence middle management on technical or business solutions. May interact with vendors.
+ Plan and organize non-routine tasks w/approval.
+ Initiate or maintain work schedule. Establish priorities of work assignments.
+ Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) in Electrical / electronic engineering or related engineering field.
+ Minimum 8 years experience in electrical / electronic engineering or related engineering field.
+ Knowledge of various sensor technologies and integrating them with medical devices.
+ Experience in mechanical design and testing.
+ Strong technical experience in the Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
+ Extensive understanding of processes used in the design and manufacturing.
+ Experience working in a development environment with a regulated industry and working on a development team with an emphasis on minimizing time to market.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
+ Some experience in engineering management or technical leadership desirable.

The base pay for this position is $112,000.00 – $224,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
