Specialist, U.S. Advocacy Mobilization
Habitat
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking to hire someone to fill the role of Specialist, U.S. Advocacy Mobilization. Reporting to the director, U.S. advocacy, this person contributes to the development and implementation of effective strategies to engage and equip Habitat for Humanity’s network to advocate for housing policies at all levels of government. The specialist helps further Habitat’s federal policy goals by planning and executing federal advocate mobilization and communication strategies that engage the Habitat network and other audiences. The specialist also helps to bolster the Habitat network’s efforts to advance state and local housing policy through the management of U.S. advocacy network communications, which spotlight learnings and share resources and training opportunities. In alignment with Habitat Voices in Action, which reflects Habitat’s commitment to advocacy as a core part of our everyday work, the specialist will support scaling these efforts within Habitat International and the network.
This position will be based at our headquarters in Washington, DC on a hybrid basis (one day per week in the office) and requires 5% travel.
Responsibilities
*Plan and implement strategies that inform and mobilize audiences to take advocacy action, helping to advance Habitat’s federal policy goals.
*Lead the creation and promotion of grassroots activities and resources, such as online mobilization tools and actions , tracking engagement and adjusting strategies where needed.
*Support the planning and execution of targeted grasstops advocate mobilization within Habitat’s network.
*Create guidance for the U.S. network on engaging in federal advocacy and provide technical assistance to affiliates mobilizing audiences at the local and state levels.
*Develop and execute communications from the Government Relations & Advocacy department to the U.S. affiliated network, ensuring content and learnings are being shared effectively and strategically through newsletters, emails, and other forums.
*Support, and at times lead, the effective external communication of Habitat’s U.S. advocacy efforts through social media, Habitat’s website, and other channels, driving interest in affordable housing policy from policymakers, donors, partners and advocates.
*Help plan for and promote other advocacy initiatives and events, such as Habitat’s annual legislative conference, Habitat on the Hill.
Requirements
*Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
*2+ years of related experience in nonprofit advocacy mobilization or communications.
*Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills.
*Experience with social media and/or communications platforms.
*Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
*Detail oriented and highly organized; ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $57,890-68,100.
