The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support complex IT services and strategic mission systems for USSTRATCOM by leveraging GitLab to enhance collaboration, automation and deployment processes for systems supporting key decision makers and their ability to command and control forces. This role requires a deep understanding of systems, engineering principles and software development life cycles and DevOps practices. The work location for this position is Omaha, Nebraska. The position is contingent upon award of the United States Strategic Command SCITLS contract.
Responsibilities:
Systems Engineer (GitLab), Senior:
Designs and implements complex technical solutions within the GitLab platform, including backend services, frontend components, and infrastructure integrations, leveraging deep knowledge of GitLab's architecture and capabilities
Guides and mentors junior engineers on best practices, coding standards, and GitLab workflows, fostering their technical growth
Identifies and implements architectural improvements to enhance scalability, performance, and reliability of GitLab systems
Leads troubleshooting efforts for complex technical issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
Conducts thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to GitLab standards
Works closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ensure alignment with business goals and user needs
Possesses extensive experience with GitLab features including CI/CD pipelines, Git repositories, issue tracking, merge requests, and security practices
Demonstrates proficiency in backend development languages (e.g., Ruby on Rails) and frontend technologies (e.g., JavaScript, Vue.js).
Possesses understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), and scaling mechanisms.
Possesses expertise in automation tools, infrastructure as code (IaC), and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Provides complex technical skills and concepts and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) as required by mission needs
Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership to meet mission requirements and support USSTRATCOM objectives. Depending on experience and team structure, this role may involve working under direct supervision or potentially providing guidance, training, or supervision to others
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility
Minimum of 7 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on GitLab or similar tools
Required 8140 Cert: 451 - Intermediate; Cloud+ or GICSP or SSCP or Security+ or GSEC; OR Applicable degree ABET accredited/CAE designated; OR Training
AND
Additional Cert: One or more certifications related to DevSecOps related skillsets, including AWS
Proficient in GitLab, CI/CD processes, and version control systems
Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure

The proposed salary range for this position is:
