The Senior Research Scientist is responsible for the design and construction of prototype GeneXpert assays, including both sample preparation and PCR/RT-PCR. The associate also helps train and mentor new employees and interns, and will have opportunities to lead small, early stage research projects.

This position is part of the R&D department and is located in Solna, Sweden and is a On Site position. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Develop and optimize GeneXpert assaysPerform literature and technology reviewsAssist with onboarding and serve as a mentor for new employees and internsMaintain notebooks and records, write reports and prepare and give presentations

The essential requirements of the job include:

Bachelor’s or higher degree in a Biological/Bioengineering fieldAt least 5 years laboratory-related experienceExperience with molecular biology techniquesExcellent data management and analysis skills, high data literacyExcellent writing, communication, and organizational skillsGood problem-solving skills

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

Ability to work in a laboratory environment

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Diagnostic assay development
