What is GCID at SAP (Global Cloud Infrastructure and Delivery)
GCID is the global custodian of SAP’s cloud infrastructure. As such, GCID is empowered to define, provide, govern, and evolve cloud infrastructure and delivery services to meet the current and future needs of SAP’s cloud offering, serving all Cloud Lines of Business (LoBs) and, through them, SAP’s customers. GCID is accountable for ensuring the standardization, harmonization, scalability and cost-efficiency of cloud infrastructure and cloud operations for all Cloud LoBs. GCID delivers reliable, secure, resilient, easy to consume, cohesive services across both hyperscaler environments and SAP own platforms, enabling consistent and efficient cloud adoption at scale.
What is GCID Operations Portfolio Management Team
The GCID Operations Portfolio Management team drives the strategic governance and evolution of SAP’s global cloud infrastructure services. We define and manage a standardized, scalable, and cost-efficient service portfolio that empowers Lines of Business (LoBs) to innovate and grow. Our responsibilities include translating strategy into actionable portfolio priorities, enabling investment decisions, ensuring lifecycle governance, supporting service onboarding, and coordinating operations. We work closely with L2 units to continuously evolve the portfolio and deliver economic value in line with the GCID Mandate.
What you’ll do
Within the Global Cloud Infrastructure & Delivery Operations unit, you will be part of the Portfolio Management team as a GCID Operations Senior Project Consultant. Together with the financial team members you are focusing on efficiencies and automation of processes and procedures which support to manage an IT service provider’s cloud infrastructure service catalogue, costing, and strategic planning.
Mission of your team: Empower the organization with a robust cloud service portfolio that drives operational efficiency, ensures cost transparency, and fosters innovation for sustained business success.
Translate GCID strategic priorities into actionable service portfolio initiatives and governance frameworks.
Apply and uphold governance principles across the full-service lifecycle (definition, investment, adoption, retirement).
Contribute to and facilitate portfolio reviews, service evaluations, and prioritization in close collaboration with GCID units.
Lead or support the evaluation of service proposals based on strategic alignment, business value, and GCID mandate, driving decision-making with key stakeholders.
Support investment planning, valuation, and (dis)investment decisions for the service portfolio.
Partner with L2 leadership and service owners to drive portfolio transformation and change execution.
Ensure operational readiness and enablement of new and evolving services across the portfolio.
Maintain service portfolio transparency in alignment with GCID transparency standards.
Conduct value-based analyses to enable data-driven decisions aligned with SAP’s long-term strategic and economic objectives.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance processes, tools, and service frameworks.
What you bring
In this paid role we are looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stays curious.
A university degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, or a related field
5–7 years of professional experience. Experience in cloud service environments, ideally at a cloud service provider or service portfolio management organizations.
Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and adaptability to complex environments
Proven ability to apply economic principles and value management to service portfolio decision-making
Proven experience in internal stakeholder and customer relationship management
Strong customer orientation with a focus on customer success and SAP’s strategic outcomes
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and SharePoint
In addition, you bring strong problem-solving solution-oriented experience and superior written and verbal communications skills. Hands-on experience with complex project management and agile frameworks rounds out your skillset.
