Your Role:

Tetra Tech's High Performance Building division is currently seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working on challenging projects of various construction types in a wide range of industry sectors.  The successful candidate will work with other Tetra Tech team members in the delivery of company project initiatives related to structural engineering.  The ideal candidate enjoys working as a team player in a flexible environment and seeing work followed through during onsite visits.  Your contributions will include.

Design building HVAC systems, including appropriate system concepts, calculations, energy modeling, specifications and coordination on projects that may include military base facilities, aircraft hangars, commercial buildings, laboratories, and manufacturing facilities. Perform HVAC load calculations, energy models, and life cycle cost analyses conforming with applicable codes and energy efficiency standards. Collaborate with other disciplines and external team members (e.g., vendors, clients, and contractors). Lead and review team members on project design work, RFIs, submittals, and other      construction- related documents and issues in a professional and timely manner. Attend client meetings, and monitor and control project progress against scope, schedule, and budget requirements. Lead and mentor more junior mechanical engineering staff. Perform site visits as required to evaluate existing mechanical systems or to inspect work in progress.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, from an ABET accredited four-year college or university. 10+ years of experience designing building HVAC systems. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) Previous experience leading and mentoring employees. Proficiency with building energy modeling concepts and knowledge of applicable codes and standards Ability to work within multi-disciplinary project teams Knowledge of and demonstrated use of engineering software for HVAC load and energy calculations A valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to client offices and project sites when required. Must be U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with design of plumbing systems. Proficient in Revit/BIM with working knowledge of MS Office Experience with RS Means, and general exposure to construction cost estimating.

This role can be performed from a wide range of locations throughout the US.  The pay range for this position is between $120,000 - $145,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on primary work location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal parity.
