Senior Manager - Negotiation and Contract Management team

The position

As our business is growing, we are looking for an experienced manager to join our Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Strategy, Sourcing and Negotiations. You will be part of a team of 4 experienced leaders driving our efforts to execute on projects, optimise our processes and build capabilities throughout the two strategic sourcing units.  The contract management function has a primary focus to develop our global contract templates so they are constantly fit for purpose and efficiently support the contracting phase of sourcing projects in addition to updating and advising on processes. You will work closely with the Senior Manager of the Negotiation & Capability Building team and the two teams will share team meetings, learning sessions and team development. You will also have a joint responsibility to develop employees and processes across the two teams. You will:

Set the direction for a team of 6-10 negotiators and contract managers through a clearly communicated vision, goals and clear roles and responsibilities. Ensure that our negotiators and contract managers are set up for success and can utilise their competences to conduct efficient negotiation processes and deliver professional contract management. Foster a good working environment, ensuring high performance and people development. Develop and further professionalise our work with global contract templates addressing the changing needs of the business and compliance requirements together with Corporate Legal. Understand the commercial needs of the business and transform them into actionable processes and initiatives within contract management. Drive continuous improvement in negotiation and contract management processes. Provide oversight and being an escalation point in relation to negotiations with global suppliers, ensuring the best commercial outcomes and robust contracts for Novo Nordisk as well as work closely with Novo Nordisk’s corporate legal department and our contracting unit in Global Business Solutions in India.

 

Alongside with these, you will need to be a professional ambassador for Novo Nordisk ensuring that contract and commercial management is conducted with excellence and act as a role model for the Novo Nordisk Way and our key leadership competencies.

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this position you need to have:

A master’s degree in law/business administration/economics/supply chain or a similar field. A minimum of 10 years of experience from positions within industry and consulting, legal, business support, sourcing, supply chain or equivalent. A mix of these areas is an advantage. Minimum 5 years of international experience within people management, preferably in a cross-functional and strategic environment. Excellent people and collaboration skills, through being an active listener with a strong drive. Business partnering experience, within a matrix organisation, and excellent stakeholder management skills. Experience in project management as well as a proven ability to successfully drive commercial negotiations and contract drafting, with a strong understanding of business models and negotiations. Experience from the pharmaceutical, medical device or life science industry will be advantageous but we will also consider applications from other sectors. Experience in building up and developing a contract management function is preferred.

About the department

Our Strategy, Sourcing and Negotiation Centre of Excellence is a dedicated and fun group of more than 25 people with extensive experience in developing category strategies, running sourcing processes, negotiating high-profile supplier and outsourcing contracts. We are part of Global Strategic Outsourcing & Devices, however, our activities also span across Strategic Sourcing, Inbound Materials & Services. We drive projects across our global organisation for direct sourcing in relation to commercial production of Novo Nordisk products. Through collaboration with our global supplier network, we ensure the availability of production capacity, and the supplies needed to help millions of people around the world to better live with chronic diseases.
