As the Senior Director Customs Compliance & Risk Management you will advise and direct the DHL Express Customs Germany country organizations to ensure adherence to all external laws and regulations in the area of customs and external trade as well as compliance with internal DHL Group standards and policies.

YOUR KEY TASKS\n

Leadership and Management:

\n\nOversee the Customs Compliance & Regulatory Affairs and Customs Compliance Management teams (team with 50+ FTEs)\nAdvise Senior Management (C-level) and Operational Customs teams on compliance risks & mitigation actions\nEnsure Customs Compliance roles are appointed, updated, and equipped\n\n

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

\n\nLead discussions on all levels with Customs Authorities & drive close engagement\nMaintain a thorough understanding of customs and external trade regulatory requirements and inform stakeholders of DHL relevant changes\nLead the DHL Customs Compliance Board for Germany, ensuring awareness of legal changes and compliance gaps on top management level\nAct as the go-to-person for major legal customs compliance questions\n\n

Risk Management and Legal Compliance:

\n\nAdvise on compliance risks and drive the risk mitigation measures\nManage all customs licenses and authorizations for Customs Germany, reporting risks related to operating licenses\n\n

Compliance Framework and Standards:

\n\nDeploy DHL's global customs compliance framework across Germany\nEnsure adherence to internal & external customs compliance standards\nImplement and maintain a Customs Compliance Management System and conduct internal audits
\n\n

Training and Development:

\n\nEstablish a high-level framework for customs and external trade training for Germany\nLead teams in implementing customs compliance programs
\n\nREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\n\nMaster's degree with extensive professional experience in Customs and external trade legislation\nProven success in developing customs compliance and risk management frameworks in multinational companies\nDemonstrated people leadership skills\nExcellent communication skills in English and German\nUnderstanding of Logistics/Express business\nStrong relationships with government and regulatory bodies
