The IRC launched an emergency response in oPt in 2023, responding to the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, as well as expanding operations to the West Bank. Implementing a diverse, integrated program of health, protection, cash and scaling up in WASH and nutrition, these programs prioritize local partnerships with both public institutions and civil society, and span emergency, humanitarian, recovery, and development modalities, while serving vulnerable Palestinians in oPt. The IRC is working directly and with partners to increase medical aid, empower and protect women, provide essential water and nutrition services and support children in Gaza and working with partners to increase medical aid, health care assistance and capacity strengthening for people in Gaza. IRC is also working through partners to deliver child protection, women’s protection and empowerment and education. IRC and its partners launched a program to enhance emergency preparedness for health services in the West Bank, in areas worst hit by violence in the last year. We are working to strengthen the health system's capacity and maintain critical health services during crises, saving as many lives as possible Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Country Director, the Senior Communication Manager (SCM) will design, plan and produce the country program’s internal and external communications. The SCM will ensure regular, timely, and high-quality communications content to showcase the project’s/programs’ successes and highlight the needs of IRC’s clients through a range of products including talking points, success stories, information and fact sheets, press releases, social media posts, etc. Working with the MENA Senior Communications and Media Manager the SCM will ensure that IRC colleagues based in capitals are provided with regular and timelymessaging and storytelling that addresses a wide range of audiences including donors, policy makers and the public. The SCM will ensure all communications materials are consistent with the IRC’s brand guidelines, donor visibility guidelines, security and safeguarding considerations and advocacy priorities. Responsibilities: Technical•Develop gender sensitive communications plans, campaigns, events and other initiatives in support of program activities;•Working in close collaboration with IRC program teams, and IRC communications staff, collect and produce high-quality communication materials including human interest stories, press releases, talking points, photos, web articles and videos;•Maintain a calendar of donor deliverables related to communications which is accessible to program and communications colleagues, and support in the collation and submission of products to the donor by deadline;•Lead the regular update of the IRC oPt Communication Master Document – ensuring that key messaging is timely, consistent, and approved for external use, in close collaboration with the MENA Senior Communications and Media Manager.•Create internal communication content, such as the Sitrep, factsheets and snapshot, for IRC and other interested stakeholders;•Ensure timely dissemination and amplification of IRC oPt content via IRC and non-IRC communications channelsManage accurate and context-appropriate translation of communications materials between English and Arabic—either directly or in coordination with translators—to support media outreach, field visibility, and program goals.•Closely monitor humanitarian and development related media pertaining to oPt, ensure that relevant information is analyzed and communicated to country program senior leadership;Ensure adherence to communication policies, protocols, standards and brand compliance;•Train IRC and partner organization staff on communications as needed;•Ensure IRC visibility in the organization’s events/conferences/workshops as well as those of donors and partners when applicable, and provide media support (photography, videography, etc.);•Promote a principled approach to communications amongst relevant internal stakeholders and ensure that external messaging is evidence-based and driven by realities for our clients, staff and partners Coordination and liaison•Work closely with the MENA Senior Communications and Media Managerr to develop and maintain professional media relations, to ensure that important external stakeholders, such as governments, private sector, NGOs etc. have awareness of oPt issues;•Act as on-site or remote producer during content collection trips and media visits—coordinating logistics, preparing field staff, facilitating translation, ensuring informed consent is obtained, safeguarding clients, and supporting freelancers and media teams throughout the visit.•In coordination with the program teams, organize communications/visibility aspects of donor visits;•Liaise with other agencies on inter-agency communications and mass information campaigns; Advocacy•Whilst advocacy remains under the remit of the Country Director, the SCM, with CD support, will liaise with relevant oPt stakeholders on issues of concern and represent IRC oPt in certain advocacy fora.•Provide talking points and summaries of key issues for senior representatives, including the Country Director and Regional Vice President. Resource Management•Prepare and monitor budgets for communications activities during proposal development and program implementation. Other•Perform other relevant duties as assigned. Key Working Relationships:Position Reports to: Country DirectorPosition is Managed in Partnership with: Regional Senior Communications & Media ManagerClose collaboration with: Regional Policy, Advocacy, and Communications team, Senior Management Team, Program and Field staff. Key External Contacts: Communications teams in other organizations; relevant staff in international and national NGOs as agreed with senior leadership. Job Requirements:•Education: University Degree in communications, journalism, or related fields (preferable)•Work Experience: At least 3 to 5 years relevant job experience, with experience in crafting and delivering compelling communications materials.•Previous experience working in an NGO or international organization in a similar role is a plus;•Excellent storytelling and writing skills (proficiency in written English is required);•Fluent (spoken and written) English and Arabic;•Ability to take high quality, professional photos in various settings, and basic photo editing is desirable, as is the ability to produce and edit video for social media use;•Ability to create infographics, and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (esp. Final Cut, Illustrator, Photoshop and In Design);•Well organized with ability to work on several tasks under pressure;•Ability to build strong relationships and work independently and take initiative;•Demonstrated creativity, ability to apply innovative thinking and problem-solving skills;•Culturally sensitive, able and interested in working with a multi-ethnic team;•Strong commitment to the IRC’s mission, purpose and values. Working Environment: Standard office work environment. Candidates may be expected to spend up to 30% of their time in the field.
