Senior Catering Sales Manager

The Director of Sales, Director of Events or Director of Sales and Marketing (depending on the hotel organization structure)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Catering Sales Manager is responsible for attainment of assigned catering goals tied to the overall performance of the hotel. The individual will be responsible for effectively soliciting on a weekly basis and securing new accounts as well as securing and servicing clients/groups where applicable. The Senior Catering Sales Manager will work in conjunction with the Director of Events to achieve the hotel’s revenue and market share goals. The focus of catering sales may vary based on the respective property the associate is assigned to (i.e. Social Corporate Business SMERF). Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities; for OEM associates’ overtime does apply and is calculated accordingly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates in the development and implementation of business strategies for the hotel which are aligned with Hyatt’s overall mission, vision values and strategies Effectively attain assigned sales and revenue goals as well as solicitation call goals.  Proactively conduct solicitation calls conduct sales tours and entertain clients specific to Social Corporate Business or SMERF as applicable by property.  Grow existing relationships with assigned accounts specific to Corporate, Leisure and SMERF groups as applicable by property. Monitor and evaluate trends within your market segment. Working knowledge of your competition to effectively sell against. Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive friendly courteous and service-oriented manner. Adheres to Hyatt’s and SW Hotel Management’s established regulations company standards catering/meeting standards and related catering sales metrics. Develop a full working knowledge of the operations and policies of the hotel and applicable departments. Communicate clearly and immediately to all involved departments of any last-minute client changes or disruptions.  Partner with the client to ensure a memorable and seamless program.  Ensure that the Daily Event List Banquet Event Orders/Guarantee Sheets, Resumes and Ten Day Event Schedules are generated on a timely basis and ensure accuracy as applicable. Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations as applicable. May assist in implementing and/or participating in special promotions relating to direct sales segments i.e. sales blitzes etc. Attend and participate in all daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required by management. Perform any other duties as requested by the Director of Sales and Marketing, the Director of Sales and/or the Director of Catering and Events.  Access to back of house areas of the hotel and sensitive information Interact and occasionally have unsupervised contact with guests and/or colleagues Access and control to sensitive areas in the hotel premises Master Keys and/or guestrooms Storage/Liquor Room and secured file cabinets Adhere to hotel dress codes, time and attendance policies.  Maintain a high level of trust and responsibility. Represent the company with certain level of reputation and good character as well as exercise sound judgement This position is located on property and not remote. 

REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or equivalent required; previous Catering Sales experience preferred. Demonstrate creativity and knowledge of food and beverage desired. Must have a valid driver’s license for the applicable state. Must possess developed verbal and written communication skills to frequently negotiate convince sell and influence other managerial personnel hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients. Experience with professional selling skills desired: opening probing supporting closing Must be proficient in general computer knowledge especially Microsoft Office products Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks; strong organization and presentation skills
