Security Specialist duties and responsibilitiesA Security Specialist's main duty is to safeguard confidential, private, trade secret and other sensitive data from data thieves and unauthorized individuals. Some common Security Specialist job duties include:
Running tests and assessments to identify potential security vulnerabilitiesDeveloping plans and procedures to safeguard and recover dataImproving existing security with password protection, firewalls and other toolsInstalling and maintaining security software to protect data systemsMonitoring systems, servers and networks for any signs of incursionsResponding to data breaches and malicious malware attacksSimulating data loss scenarios to evaluate the efficiency of existing recovery plansTraining other employees on safetySecurity Specialist skills and qualificationsThe most important qualifications for the position include:
