**What you’ll do**
Position Title: SAP iXp Intern - DevOps Engineer
Location: Reston, VA
Expected Start Date: June 2025
Contract Duration: 6 months
Work Hours: 40 hours per week; Full-time
Are you passionate about technology and eager to dive into the world of Cloud Native engineering? We’re looking for curious, motivated intern candidates who are ready to learn, build, and make an impact in a fast-paced DevOps environment. Whether you're just getting started or already exploring tech projects on your own — we want to hear from you!
During the program, you may gain experience with some or all of the following:
+ Cloud Providers: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OpenStack
+ Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible
+ Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
+ CI/CD & GitOps: Gitlab CI, ArgoCD, Concourse
+ Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
+ Security & Identity: Vault, OAuth2, OIDC, SSO
+ Modern Dev Workflows: VS Code, Git, REST APIs, YAML
+ Emerging Tech: Serverless (Lambda, Cloud Functions), Service Mesh, Platform Engineering
What You’ll Learn and Accomplish
By the end of the internship, you’ll walk away with:
+ Hands-on automation experience with leading cloud platforms
+ Real-world knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and CI/CD workflows
+ Practical experience with tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and Git
+ A strong understanding of cloud-native networking, compute, and storage systems
+ Hands-on experience with automating infrastructure, deployments, and operations using modern tooling
+ The confidence to take on entry-level roles in cloud engineering, DevOps, or SRE
**What you bring**
We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.
Education: Information Systems, Computer Science, or other related fields and interests
Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled, or recently graduated (start date must be within 6 months of graduation date) from a coding academy/bootcamp, apprenticeship, associate, bachelor’s, master’s or JD/PhD program
We welcome students and recent graduates from diverse backgrounds including self-taught engineers with strong interest in cloud-native tech.
We don’t expect you to know everything — just come with curiosity, drive, and the ability to work well with others. You’ll thrive here if you:
+ Are comfortable using Unix-like systems via command line (Linux / macOS)
+ Enjoy solving problems and working in collaborative environments
+ Have a basic understanding of:
+ Virtualization and Microservices
+ Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
+ Networking fundamentals
+ Computing architecture (CPUs, memory, storage, etc.)

**Compensation Range Transparency** : SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 26-47 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
