The Opportunity 

Our location in Portsmouth, VA, currently has an opportunity for a Receiving Clerk. In this role, the individual will be responsible for receiving incoming freight and inventory management of lab supplies.

Shift:

8:00 am-4:30 PM

Monday to Friday

What you'll work on: 

Support area lead and inventory control analyst in receiving, put-aways, and scheduling inbound deliveriesServe as the primary point of contact for deliveries to the Warehouse.Ensure timely and accurate receipt of purchased materials and returned goods.CoordinateUnder direct supervision, this new team member will follow established procedures and guidelines to receive, handle, store, record, and dispatch goods in a store or warehouse.Receive incoming goods and check for damage and discrepancies between goods and invoices.Pick orders, pack, receive, and dispatch outgoing goods according to written or verbal requests or orders.Ensure proper routing of materials is maintained while transporting the materials between Departments and Facilities.Enter data into a database or other computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock and inventory records.Retrieve stored information to respond to inquiries (for example, on stock transfer, inventory levels, or delivery schedules).Perform other routine clerical activities according to the organization’s established procedures.These activities may include updating stock cards and inventory records, and completing receipt, transfer, delivery, and dispatch forms.Daily communication with upper management of inbound receipts, process improvements, space capacity, and forecasting. 

Education and Experience you'll bring: 

Required

High school education or GED with 2-3 years of Warehouse experience. 

Preferred:

Incumbent must be able to perform basic math, read, understand, and make decisions based upon written operating procedures.Must have good computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Word, etc.)Must have good hand-eye coordination and general math and reasoning skills.Basic computer knowledge for data input and making decisions related to the inventory part, lot, and quantity.Previous forklift experience and the ability to meet Abbott's requirements for obtaining forklift certification.Experience working in a dynamic environment with frequent changes to priorities.Experience with warehouse management systems.Forklift Certification.Ability to work overtime as necessary.Ability to work at heights up to 40 feet.Ability to lift 50 lbs.Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.Multitaskers prioritize and meet deadlines promptly.Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

The base pay for this position is $15.45 – $30.85 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
