Client Background & Position Overview
Our client is global Chinese company leader in information and communications technology, but not only.
They are looking for a talented and driven R&D Engineer with a strong background in advanced materials and photonic device integration to support the evolution of our silicon photonics platforms. The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise in the fabrication and integration of photonic components using emerging materials—such as Lithium Niobate (LiNbO₃), Barium Titanate (BaTiO₃), Silicon Germanium (SiGe), III-V semiconductors, or organic materials. Experience with device architectures such as Germanium APDs, SiGe photodetectors, or integrated laser sources is highly desirable.
This role is central to the development of innovative solutions for ultra-high-speed transceivers, integrated detectors, multi-wavelength light sources, and photonic neural network architectures.
Responsibilities
Lead research and process development of photonic devices incorporating specialized materials, aligned with next-generation applications in optical communication and computing.
Collaborate with design, processing, and integration teams to define and refine fabrication workflows that ensure high yield and performance.
Design and execute experiments to characterize material and device properties such as electro-optic response, modulation speed, detector responsivity, and signal integrity.
Contribute to the integration of these devices into complete photonic systems and evaluate their behavior in real-world scenarios.
Track and evaluate emerging materials and process technologies through literature reviews and academic/industry engagement, applying new insights to internal R&D efforts.
Requirements
PhD. or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Photonics, or a related field.
Proven experience in the following areas:
Electro-optic materials (e.g., LiNbO₃, BaTiO₃, PZT)
Semiconductor materials (e.g., SiGe, III-V)
Photodetector or modulator process integration (e.g., Ge APDs, SiGe PDs, or EO modulators)
Monolithic or hybrid laser integration
Familiarity with optical device physics and silicon photonics concepts is advantageous.
A proactive, research-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills.
If you are an energetic and ambitious person with a passion for photonic technology, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity. Our client offers competitive salary, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative team in a multicultural and growing environment.
