Program Mgmt Director-ProdDev

The Program Management Director manages a team of End-to-End (E2E) TPMs who own the schedule and implementation for specific data center projects involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on delivering new capacity. The Program Management Director must have strong influencing skills, people management experience and be able to coach and develop TPMs to direct schedules while mitigating risks and blockers. To succeed, the Program Management Director must develop a high performing organization that owns and drives interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of all projects within the build expansion portfolio.

Projects managed by the Program Management Director's team begin with Delivery Build exiting the planning process and conclude with handover to our customers. These projects encompass all components of the build. This includes project planning, design, material ordering, networking, transportation, build, and handover. The TPMs reporting to the Program Management Director manage all of these workstreams through partners and stakeholders. Each of these must be tracked and escalated quickly when blockers are encountered.

While the TPMs reporting to the Program Management Director own the overall project schedules, they do not perform the build activities. Most activities are performed through partner teams and/or vendors. The TPM must manage the delivery of these partners to their individual tasks in the project schedule and the Program Management Director is the first escalation point supporting them. Each reporting TPM must understand each phase of the data center build, be able to identify risks, and mitigate them. The Program Management Director owns the TPMs performance of these activities and must be able to support / coach them when issues arise. This requires strong leadership and understanding of the process. The Program Management Director must also have strong reporting and communication skills to provide leadership with clear, concise updates on their projects. They must also be able to evaluate and recommend options for mitigations.

The Program Management Director must be able to guide and coach TPMs to resolve issues that present with a high degree of ambiguity. This means developing the team to be able to breakdown novel, complex problems into appropriate pieces to enable systematic and repeatable solutions. This includes breaking down new technical blockers not previously encountered and resolving them. Problems often arise as new technologies present, and the Program Management Director must drive development and learning within the team that continuously enables the team to adapt to new requirements.
