Job Description


In support of the North America growth agenda, the Program Manager of Defense is to oversee the project management and implementation of medium to large new business startups and other business projects with significant risk and complexity within Government and Defense.Create a focused agenda to de-risk new business opportunities by maintaining compliance aligned with various government and defense requirements.

Responsibilities

Project Management

· Implement strategic initiatives in the Government & Defense space

· Manage overall planning, control, status reporting, stability and delivery of medium to large projects with high risk and/or complexity due to government compliance requirements

· Ensure sales to delivery requirements are met for startups leading to successful implementations

· Establish and manage scope to ensure business case realization, including Deviation to Plan post go live

· Drive risk/ issue identification, tracking, escalation and resolution

· Manage the budget and resolve spending issues

· Manage communication and escalation at all levels within the DHL and Customers’ organizations

· Deliver best practice project documentation

· Provide support to the sales / bid management process utilizing a thorough understanding of Govt & Defense procurement systems

· Manage project performance against business cases

· Implement previous lessons learned and drive continuous improvement

· Lead, drive and challenge the project team

· Facilitate Steering Team meetings to ensure senior team awareness and alignment

· Develop and execute robust Cutover Plans, which include all Operational, Systemic and Customer activities

· Prepare for and participate in Project Assurance Reviews

· Facilitate Lessons Learned and Project Assurance Reviews for projects that are led by the Project Management team

Implementation & Start Up Management

· Assures Supply Chain culture, standards & business practices are deployed in new operations

· Review and adjust the Concept of Operations used during the pursuit and implementation of new accounts

·Oversees the adherence to standard operating processes and training for new launches

·Coordinates with Quality and operational owner to ensure all quality-related requirements are adhered to.

·Ensure that operational and strategic reporting is established in accordance with Project Milestones and contractual KPIs are reported and escalated as necessary to both internal and external stakeholders.

People Management

· Identify project resource requirements

· Lead the Project Managers who implement medium to large new business start-ups and directs other business projects with significant risk and complexity in the Government & Defense space


Required Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree or 7-10 years of experience within project management or operations related field, requiredProfessional project management certification e.g. PMI, PMP, preferred7-10 years of experience in Government & Defense Supply Chains, requiredUnderstanding of Government & Defense terms and acronyms, required5-7 years of production and operations management experience, required
