Product Content Manager, ELA

The Assessment Product team, within Pearson’s School Assessment organization, strives to create Pearson flagship assessments and tools to support and engage students, families, and educators as they make progress in teaching and learning. The Product Content Manager will work closely with Assessment Product team members to support key aspects of delivering on the Pearson Assessment for Learning Suite (PALS) of measurement products.  

The Product Content Manager will use their subject matter expertise to develop engaging assessments of K-12 learning. This role will require content and assessment expertise, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. 

Responsibilities: 

Work cross-functionally to assist in the development of new and revised assessment solutions  Act as the ELA lead for assigned products, demonstrating a strong understanding of best practices in ELA learning and assessment (including the science of reading), relevant legislation and polices, and challenges impacting the field of assessment  Design, interpret, and apply specifications and guidelines for developing content and forms, specifically K-12 reading assets  Evaluate product content needs and create asset development plans, assessment designs, and other ancillary documents  Support each phase of test development including initiation, pilot, standardization, and final release  Manage and train asset writers/vendors and educators to develop assets based on content standards, cognitive complexity, and asset development best practices  Contribute to assessment product designs and key features, including scoring rules, the creation of product technical information, user-facing materials, and marketing collateral  Document, update, and maintain procedures and specifications  Assist with developing and managing team project plans, timelines, schedules, and budgets  Work collaboratively with other content developers, psychometricians, product engineers, and other Pearson groups  Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree is required; advanced degree is preferred  Deep knowledge of English Language Arts (ELA) academic standards (CCSS, etc.) and the reading research base is required  Experience in ELA assessment development is required  At least three years’ experience as an ELA teacher is preferred  Familiarity with psychometric techniques including classical test theory, item response theory, test equating, scaling and linking, and standard setting is preferred  Outstanding oral and written communication skills  Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and ability to coordinate multiple activities and adapt to unexpected events  Broad knowledge of common software programs, strong technology skills, and the confidence necessary to work with unfamiliar projects  Highly detailed-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet daily deadlines  

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows: 

The minimum full-time salary range is between $75,000 - $85,000.
