The expected salary range for this position is $78,220.00 - $97,760.00. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. We are looking for a Procurement & Supply Chain Specialist to serve on our Marketing Operations Team to play a vital role in the procurement of materials, goods and services to support Marketing activities. You will be the lead supply chain whiz within the procurement team bringing expertise to our inventory control and supply purchasing business.

In this highly collaborative but independent role, responsibilities include cultivating a portfolio of vendors by identifying, quoting, negotiating contracts, defining SLAs, onboarding, and performance management. In addition, you will provide excellent service to our internal customers through the process of purchasing raw materials and finished goods used in our internal production processes and marketing activities.

The ideal candidate can fully engage, update and maintain our MSP system to issue/retire items, maintain appropriate inventory levels, prevent inventory outages, resolve shortages and take a proactive approach to managing reorders. Using technical writing skills, you’ll be expected to draft clear RFQs and Print/Project Instructions and be able to complete detailed documentation for all vendor management and purchasing activities. You will match the right approved supplier to each project to meet budget and timelines.

PLEASE NOTE: This position is hybrid (onsite 2-3 days per week) if located in the Colorado Springs area, or remote for non-local candidates. Preference will be given to candidates within close proximity to our Global Ministry Center in Colorado Springs. 

What will you do?

Serve on teams that develop and implement strategies to effectively procure supplies, materials and services to fulfill Compassion ministry programs. Ensure the most favorable terms and conditions for global or local ministry operations.

Identify and select suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. Source and procure goods and services from selected vendors, being mindful of sales, promotional campaigns, and other opportunities to secure reduced prices. Assess the supplier's products to ensure that they comply with specifications and meet the organization's quality standards.

Craft or participate in the development of Requests for Proposal to solicit bids for goods and services in satisfaction of Compassion's ministry needs. Provide the Request for Proposal to selected suppliers and analyze and evaluate bids, tenders, proposals, or quotations.

Negotiate prices and delivery conditions and commit to purchases (within established limits of authority), achieving terms that are in Compassion's best interest. Actively negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.

Implement strategies for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, quality improvements and process efficiencies, and review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy, discussing defects and delivery problems and negotiates refunds.

Interpret client requisitions and anticipate demand for goods and services, monitoring the quality and timeliness of items supplied, and following up with vendors to ensure timely delivery. Communicate the status of orders with internal customers.

Resolve vendor-related problems regarding specifications, timing, quality, quantity, and delivery.

May coach and provide expertise to other professionals and support staff in the sourcing discipline.

What will you bring?

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Operations or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

7 years’ experience in supply chain procurement (strong background in print), strategy and analysis. MRP systems expertise.

Strong understanding of inventory control and warehouse operations.

Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, project management and analytical skills.

Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, and balance changing project and company needs.

Strong business math skills.

Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Smartsheet and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

Must possess strong technical writing skills.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
