PROCUREMENT STRATEGY & INSIGHTS

The Procurement Strategy & Insights Team is team formed 2.5 years ago, serving as the nerve centre of the Unilever global procurement organization, enabling the procurement organization to design and deliver step-change across value chains, operating processes and tools, and business models. With vision of Translating Knowledge & Data into Future Fit Procurement Strategy & Insights, as the key enabler of Lighthouse strategy this team is responsible for:  

Sensing, incubating, and enabling innovative ideas, new business models, and transformation programs for disruptive value creation across procurement teamsCreating and implementing standardized processes and data-driven decision making to ease operating effectiveness and drive better and faster outcomesIdentifying, scaling, and spreading best practices across the global procurement organization, within and across teamsFacilitating rapid learning, capability development, and future-fit upskilling of our people

With a growing agenda and scope, the Procurement Strategy & Insights Team now consists of 4 sub-teams:

Strategy team, reporting to Focus of Five and Power of One Procurement VPs and dot line to Head of Procurement Strategy, drive the BG/Po1 strategy and lead BG/Po1 insights and land implementation.Insights team, reporting to Head of Strategy & Insights and lead the central procurement insight agenda along with Competitive Buying and other Lighthouse programs, as well as drive cross BG/Po1 transformation projects.Digital team, reporting to Head of Strategy & Insights and lead central procurement digital program, from building data foundation, develop advanced analytics use cases and services, and drive digital transformation across 7 steps. We are recently intergrade Business Operation Sustainability team to cover Sustainably digital program in this team as well.Data & AI Innovation team, reporting to Head of Strategy & Insights, this newly set team and 100% focused on innovating advantaged analytics use cases and Procurement GPT products and AI agents for Procurement and Sustainability, which doesn’t exist in the market.

This Role reports to senior procurement manager -insights, who reports into the head of strategy & insights. The purpose of this role is to

Drive market competitiveness benchmarking coverage Support buyer community with market insights including trade data, cost models, dummy RFQ and the insights relating to that.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead a team of 6 PMO supporting BG and Power of 1 benchmarking Expand PMI coverage from 5.7 billion to 10 billion by end of 2025 Drive insights adoption with BG and set up governance for action/ interventions tracking and ensure it lands in improvement in competitiveness Lead the digital transformation of PMI benchmarking exercise

Automation of data fetching process

100% data onboarding to GCP ( google cloud)

PMI AI agent

Develop Buying power and MDO( most desirable outcome) setting for negotiation based on insights from comparison of UL price vs. market price and VL vol vs. Market vol Work closely with S&I internal team on Joy of buying, forecasting to ensure PMI insights land in negotiations and quality of performance management. Pilot in new methodologies for CM, MBS and Logistics Work with external agencies, tier 1-3 consultancies on cost model development, material insights report Publish PMI monthly letters with actionable insights Ensure data accuracy with 90% threshold and develop a robust methodology archive directory for more than 200 existing cells. Partnership management with external consultancy firms. Negotiation on cost to achieve PMI benchmarking – data cost, agency cost.

EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS :

At least 5 years’ experience in Procurement in Unilever / FMCG industryStrong experience in global procurement roles managing large spend owning commercial negotiations and familiar with cost models and strong finance knowledgeExcellent data literacy and business problem solvingPartnership management with external data/ research providers and consultancy firmsSolutions oriented, results driven and a self-starter with the ability to also work in a team setting and can build relationships with internal and external stakeholdersHas a good understanding of Agile principles, values, methodologies, and practices that enable agility and approaches delivery with an iterative and incremental (test - do – learn) approachExperience of working in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment – both F2F and virtually
