What you’ll do
The Oracle Health Design and Human Factors (HF) Research teams are embarking on a brand-new mission to completely reimagine the experience of our healthcare applications, from core EHR to the patient experience and everything in between. As a Principal Human Factors Researcher within the HF team, you will have the unique opportunity of identifying and solving complex healthcare problems across the entire continuum of care. You will collaborate closely with clinicians, product owners, designers, and developers to revolutionize the user experience of our health applications and ensure that they are useful, usable, safe, and enjoyable to use.
Human Factors Researchers take a scientific approach, applying human factors principles, standards, and the right research method to investigate the right problem. The HF Research team’s work is empirical, standardized (with room for creativity), meets regulatory standards, is rigorous, and is peer-reviewed to support complex investigations of dynamic interactions across roles, settings, products, and time. We conduct diverse quantitative and qualitative studies to understand the context in which an improvement may be made by eliciting end-user needs for that improvement, and by validating the success of a design against user needs and established usability and safety goals. The outcomes from our research inform product strategy and design, and validate the quality, safety, and usefulness of our products.
As a Principal Human Factors Researcher, you will assess operational, usability, and safety gaps across multiple products and create strategic research plans to address emerging patterns of systemic usability and safety concerns. You will establish and collaborate with inter-organizational and interdisciplinary teams to translate and adapt industry ideas into solutions for complex health care problems. You are responsible for establishing research objectives that inform product strategy and objectives, defining participant recruitment requirements, and for ensuring that the user is at the heart of user-centered design at Oracle Health. Therefore, you are expected to use your knowledge and understanding of the vision of Oracle Health products to effectively communicate research findings and suggest improvements to product teams, leadership, and other stakeholders in a manner that supports decision making and compels action.
