Principal Engineer - AirOps Data Platform

AirOps (AOP) is the leading industry platform in airline and airport operations, delivering a seamless and personalized passenger experience, an optimized airport operation, and automated disruption resolution between airlines, airports, border, and air traffic control. Within AirOps, the Data and Platform department (DAP) has a central role, working on different cloud-native products facilitating the use and exchange of data within all AirOps products.

The Data Aggregator Middleware (DAM) team develops solutions for our fast data platform, Amadeus Biometric Integrator (ABI) - powering devices in airports - and Amadeus Smart Message (ASM), system responsible for delivering baggage messages to the airport.

About the role

The Principal Engineer role will primarily be the technical lead for ABI. As we evolve in a fast-paced environment, activities on ASM and the Fast Data Platform can also be in scope.

The team is composed of about 10 people, including software development engineers, business analyst, scrum master. The team works within the DataSpark train with the other teams located primarily in Nice, Dallas, Bangalore, and London.

ABI is a Cloud Native Application hosted on AWS, primary language in Java and using Kafka for event streaming. ABI is a key middleware primarily used to connect airport IoT or legacy devices to cloud native or legacy applications. For example, it's powering the Amadeus Biometric Solution in the United States in 18 airports with >5million passengers boarded since the start.

Your main responsibilities

Build advanced architecture and solutions for the ABI platform, following state of the art technical standards that respond to complex customer requirements.

Work in DevOps model, taking responsibilities in both the development and the infrastructure of the platform.

Technically lead the team, coach the developers to provide high quality deliveries, onboard and train newcomers.

Provide support to Implementation teams and work towards the industrialization of the platform.

Participate to the on-call loop for the product.

About the ideal candidate

At least 7 years of experience as a software developer

Experience in Java, event-driven architecture, and working on Cloud-hosted products

Proven track record of working on Mission Critical products

Fluent in English
