We have embarked on an exciting journey of modernizing and transforming our US and Canada payroll functions, engaging a third-party consulting firm to uncover opportunities and develop a detailed roadmap. By rethinking structures, harmonizing processes, and automating key tasks with new technologies, we intend to create a simpler and more efficient operating model encouraging collaboration and flexibility for the payroll function to meet the evolving and growing needs of BCG.
This role will be actively involved in leading and managing the payroll transformation initiative, partnering closely and under the supervision of our Payroll Leadership Team and other Finance Leaders across North America. This individual will analyze BCG policies and processes to enable the adoption of available efficiencies and improvements to align with BCG, regulatory requirements and payroll industry best practices. They will provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers.
What You'll Do
Taking ownership of policies and practices related to multi-state payroll reporting and tax compliance:Reviewing and recalculating employee wages and taxes based on timesheet change reportsManaging the multi-state tax equalization process including; mid-year stipend data, year-end stipend data, and tax prep assistance paymentsAuditing monthly employee records to ensure proper multi-state payroll setupReviewing and adjusting year-end work state wages to ensure accurate W-2 reportingProviding support for mobility-related payroll functions for U.S.-based expatriates and inpatriates:Overseeing Certificate of Coverage application processingo Ensuring proper withholding of hypothetical taxes on regular and supplemental payrollsConfirming year-end tax entries and taxable benefits (e.g. relocation, COLA, tax prep) are accurately reflected on W-2sEnsuring accurate foreign exchange rate application and year-end adjustments for non-USD payrollManaging intercompany invoicing, reconciliation, and journal entriesPlan, steer, organize and coordinate transformation process-related activities and workstreamsDemonstrate strong project management skills; must be able to manage multiple complex projects at the same time and meet deliverablesProven ability to build strong partnerships with colleagues across the organization (HR, technology etc.), desire to be flexible and think strategicallyDeep understanding of full cycle payroll operations– input prior to payroll acceptance and output post-payroll acceptance – while maintaining separation of duties for compliance and audit controlsBe well versed in policies and practices related to multi-state payroll reporting and taxationManage day to day escalations and act as business partner to resolve issues requiring additional assistance for resolutionOpenness to new and innovative ideas and adaptability to transformationHigh integrity, a positive can-do attitude, and an ability to maintain absolute confidentialityWorking independently—You are self-motivated and take initiative.Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or required
What You'll Bring
Associates degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience; bachelor's degree is preferred5+ years Payroll experience idealExperience with 3rd party payroll service (ADP, Ceridian etc.) including report writing toolsExperience in system/operational transformations*The level for this role is flexible to Payroll Senior Analyst depending on skills and experience
