As an **Optical Network Developer** , you will architect, deploy and operate optical networking solutions leveraging existing and new optical fiber technologies, including Hollow Core Fiber (HCF), to meet the capacity demand driven by AI, collaborate on global network strategy, and develop automation platforms to make the network self-healing. **Responsibilities**
+ **Optical Network Operations in SRE Role:** Work with stakeholders to define optical networking needs for AI systems. Lead the automation and incident management of parts of our optical network.
+ **Code Implementation and Optimization:** Write, enhance, and streamline code for managing and automating optical networks, emphasizing scalability and efficiency for AI networks.
+ **Telemetry and Data Analysis:** Monitor AI-optimized optical network telemetry and use data analytics to identify issues and improve products and services. Develop tools for automatic problem resolution and continuous network improvement.
+ **Operational Readiness and Incident Management:** Serve as the primary contact for incidents, quickly addressing issues and implementing fixes. Work with various teams for fast resolution and use automation to avoid future problems. Share insights from incident reviews.
+ **Continuous Improvement and Trend Adaptation:** Keep up with optical networking and AI advancements. Incorporate new knowledge and technologies to enhance the performance and reliability of AI-optimized optical networks.

**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
+ OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related fieldAND 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
+ OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
**Other Requirements:**
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 8+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
+ OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
+ OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fieldAND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
+ OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Cloud Network Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
