Job Overview: The New Roots Farm & Garden Assistant, an occasional employee, assist New Roots team with the day-to-day activities of IRC’s community garden and farm sites on an ad hoc basis. Major Responsibilities: Garden & Infrastructure Maintenance + Assist with day-to-day operations of community gardens and farms. + Assist with management of soil fertility, seeding production, and maintenance of community areas. + Help oversee farm infrastructure like irrigation and fencing. + Assists with the services of landscape maintenance contractors. + Complete greenhouse maintenance duties to include watering. + Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: + Experience: 2+ years of related experience + Skills: experience with sustainable farming /gardening. Working Environment: + Outdoor work in all weather conditions. + Will require occasional weekend and/or evening work. + Must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 lbs. + May use farm, and garden equipment, machines, and tools.
