Specifically, this is a role within the Cloud Network Operations Center (CNOC) Infrastructure networking team. The CNOC Networking team owns all the connectivity between the CNOCs, the ONSR realms, and management network for the customer IXPs. Driving efficiencies in network design (not owned by either Corp or OCI Networking) and improving our operationalization of CNOC network infrastructure is critical to continuing to scale the network without having to scale the headcount for ongoing support. The current CNOC network is complex and leverages many third-party fiber connections to deliver resiliency and redundancy. This drives a large OPEX cost for ONSR, both in circuit costs and a growing number of people to support the network as well as CAPEX to support the encryption design aligned to the number of circuits. Failure to fill this role will result in sustaining high circuit OPEX, a reliance on a small number of vendors, and a growing headcount need to manage and troubleshoot network issues. Additionally, the current network design for CNOCs will drive higher costs for other OCIRs (cleared clouds for other non-US governments), impacting sales potential for those products.
