The Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) is Australia’s largest and most significant infrastructure investment in the Pacific. This $4 billion infrastructure initiative is actively engaging with countries in the region to significantly boost Australia's support for infrastructure development in Pacific countries and Timor-Leste.
The AIFFP is managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with support from Tetra Tech (the Support Unit). The AIFFP Support Unit provides advice and services to support the delivery of the AIFFP and its objectives.
Key responsibilities
This Australian-based role with travel to the Pacific offers the chance to shape the impact of Australia’s largest infrastructure investment in the region. As a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Adviser, you will play a key role in ensuring AIFFP’s projects are effectively monitored and evaluated, enabling data-driven decision-making that improves social, environmental, and economic outcomes. Working closely with DFAT, Pacific governments, and key stakeholders, you will design and implement MEL systems that drive real-world change while integrating cross-cutting priorities such as GEDSI, climate resilience, and local content.
Ensure MEL processes and deliverables are effectively planned and implemented across AIFFP’s investment portfolio, enabling accurate data collection, quality reporting, and compliance with DFAT MEL standards. Develop and deliver pragmatic, tailored MEL solutions that align with specific project, country, and stakeholder contexts. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including DFAT, AIFFP, Pacific government officials, state-owned enterprises, and contractors.Selection criteria
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Sciences, International Development, Public Policy). At least 10 years of experience in MEL roles within international development, humanitarian, or public policy settings. Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
