Job Description
You will form part of RMM within the Mass Foundation Cluster which is one of the largest customer-facing business segments in Old Mutual. Our target market is the low and emerging-middle income segment.This role is accountable for achieving results through others and individually, over periods of 3 months to a year.
The core tasks of the role includes execution of the key strategic priorities as per the business plan and for governance and compliance at an operational level, preparation of financial and management submissions / reports; analysis and interpretation of financial data, using financial analysis to better support predictive results; implementation of accounting processes, systems and controls; end-to-end financial function exposure and involvement.
Review IFRS and tax submissions as well as management reports to ensure these are accurate, complete and submitted timeously.
Develops, reports on and interprets financial data, KPIs and benchmarks.
Compilation of 3 year business plans (budgets)
Provides commentary on financial results and implications and advises on corrective action to be taken.
Collaborates with business unit stakeholders on financial outcomes and trends.
Testing of accounting processes for new products, new systems and project involvement dependent in the capacity as a finance subject matter expert.
Emphasis of the role is on interpretation and predictive results.
Responsible for audit liaisons as per tax, legislative and statutory requirements.
Supports the execution of a business plan and key strategic objectives.
Accountable for governance and compliance at an operational level.
Analyses financial information and provides insights on the drivers for the results, as well as variances to business plan, forecast prior year and prior month.
Maintains suitable financial control environment.
Innovate and drive efficiencies in finance processes.
Understands and is aware of key IFRS 17 reporting changes to the set of financial results under the roles responsibility (balance sheet and income statement).
Requirements:
Qualified Chartered Accountant.
3-5 years post articles working experience.
IFRS 17 knowledge and application will be advantageous.
Financial Services/Insurance Industry experience will be advantageous.
Managerial experience for a small team.
