The position
In this strategic and forward-facing leadership role, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to shape the medical direction of emerging therapy areas at Novo Nordisk, driving innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence at both national and global levels.
You will report directly to Director of Medical Affairs, Rare Diseases and Emerging Therapy Areas.
You will also:
Develop and execute the UK medical strategy for emerging therapy areas such as MASH and Alzheimer’s disease, aligning with global plans and driving cross-functional collaboration for product development and launch readiness. Lead KOL engagement, medical insight generation, publication planning, and identify opportunities for real-world evidence to position Novo Nordisk as a credible scientific leader in new therapeutic areas. Serve as a key medical expert, supporting clinical research activities, reviewing Investigator Initiated Study proposals, and contributing to phase 4 and RWE initiatives in collaboration with clinical teams. Act as an ABPI expert, ensuring compliance of promotional and non-promotional materials with ABPI and internal standards, while mentoring trainee signatories and supporting business compliance. Represent the UK in global forums, deliver internal training, support HCP education events, and lead strategic projects and collaborations that build credibility and engagement across the healthcare ecosystem.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess outstanding business and personal leadership skills, combined with the ability to manage complex tasks and organisational issues.
You should also have:
• Advanced scientific qualification such as MD/MBBS/PhD/Mpharm.
• At least 5 years’ experience in medical affairs within the pharmaceutical / medical devices / biotechnology industries and leadership experience within medical affairs.
• Clinical experience in NHS / Therapy area knowledge and prior experience in Neurology / Alzheimer or MASH diseases.
• Firm understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice and the relevant regulations relating to advertising
• Strong understanding of UK healthcare environment, both NHS and private.
• Fluency in English, Verbal and Written.
