Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

Unilever Homecare set Clean Future strategy to lead a transformation of the home care industry by setting new standards in product superiority with great value and sustainability. China has important role in global chemical industry.

In this role, the individual will be responsible to identify new opportunities from China ecosystem align with Clean Future strategy, explore new material, especially surfactant and cleansing ingredients, with novel functions to deliver additional functions, and establish value chain with sustainable properties (e.g. GHG reduction opportunity, renewable carbon for embedded carbon, and etc.,).

He/she will expand partnership with chemical ecosystem in China, especially academic researchers and partners in chemical industry value chain for home care science and technology innovation.

Main Accountabilities

Drive advanced material opportunity exploration from China ecosystem to satisfy consumer benefits aiming for home care product innovation, focusing on surfactant and cleansing ingredients.Drive advanced material development and application from China renewable carbon ecosystem.Set up “Win-Win” strategic relationship with ecosystem partners align with Clean Future strategy, especially local academic researchers and partners in chemical industry value chain.Explore new opportunities from China ecosystem to drive the sustainable chemical value chain establishment focusing on renewable carbon.Build the material GHG reduction science base focusing on the chemical value chain in China.Establish the GHG reduction strategy for chemical value chain in China for Unilever.Drive the digitalization and AI based new material exploration through collaboration with AI partners for home care new material development.Strong business sense and material science background with open innovation mindset

External: Chemical industry partners in China ecosystem, industrial authorities, academic researchers, and other relevant partners in the homecare advanced material ecosystem.

Internal: global S&T, HIT, BU R&D teams and relevant business counterparts

Critical success Factors for the Job

Key Skills

1. Highly self-motivated and self-starter

2. Passionate on the advanced material development to satisfy consumer needs.

3. Strong business sense and product innovation background with open innovation mindset.

4. Good understanding of advanced material innovation, including but not limited to home care functional benefits, sustainable value chain development and etc.,

5. Ability to lead R&D strategy setting and multiple project tasks for homecare science and technology development.

6. Fluent English both in oral and written, excellent presentation skill;

Relevant Experience

1. Master and above degree in Material Science / Engineering, Chemical Sciences / Engineering or related research with proven record of successful delivery of technical solutions

2. 5+ years of related experience on homecare consumer product innovation and material exploration.

3. 2+ years of experience in a leadership position managing advanced material / product innovation / sustainable material exploration.

4. Preferred to have experience in GHG reduction related works.
