The position
As the Legal and Compliance Counsel, you will provide legal advice on strategic and tactical projects in a regulated environment. Other role expectations are as follows but is not limited to:

Provide solutions focussed and pragmatic legal advice on a range of legal issues including contract interpretation, and compliance with law and regulations. Draft, negotiate, and manage a high volume and wide variety of contracts, including but not limited to, services, supply, speaker, and advisory board agreements. Provide practical, solution-oriented legal support to Novo Nordisk’s internal clients during contract preparation and negotiation. Review and approval of promotional and advertising material in line with advertising and pharmaceutical laws and regulations including the Medicines New Zealand Code of Conduct. Providing counsel on all compliance matters related to Business Ethics Code of Conduct – including Third Party Risk Assessment (Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Anti-Tax Avoidance, Sanctions, Modern Slavery), Gifts & Entertainment, HCP transfer of value reporting and Contract Management.

 

Qualifications

Must hold a Law degree from a reputable university. Must have at least 4 years of experience, preferably from a mix of law firm and in-house environments gained from within pharmaceutical, biotechnology or devices industries. Medicines New Zealand Code of Conduct certification. Must have strong business acumen. Working knowledge of pharmaceutical and other relevant laws and regulations, including Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism, Anti-Competitive Behaviour, Modern Slavery, and ability to interpret and apply such laws and regulations and policies to inform business activities preferred. Must either be a New Zealand Citizen or have a current residency Visa to live and work in New Zealand.
