Lead Software Engineer in Test

Over View

Provides competent leadership, and highly specialized test strategies of complex systems and implement an effective Automated Test strategy for the program. Simultaneously plans, manages, and provides technical oversight for the testing activities. Ensures that tested components are compliant with Mastercard standards and requirements. Directs completion of tasks within estimated time frames.


Roles and Responsibilities:
•\tDesign applications, interfaces; recommend solutions, estimate efforts; provide guidance to junior analysts; work with higher management for strategic decision and help business to design efficient system.
•\tAssist the Agile teams building your application in the continuous validation of application functionality, system to system interfaces and complete software solutions
•\tDesign and develop test automation scenarios for the entire application to validate system to system interfaces and complete software solutions (for API and UI tests)
•\tInteract with business and development stakeholders to define test plans and schedules for application delivery
•\tTranslate expected customer requirements and specs into test requirements and testing methods in regression testing
•\tIdentify and implement complex automation efforts, including refactoring of automation code and designing supporting Test Framework elements where needed
•\tWork closely with software engineers to build quality in, ensuring proper test and requirement coverage, configuration quality, monitoring, early performance testing for all teams working on the application
•\tExecute existing test plans for continuous regression testing of the entire application and report results of the state of the application to stakeholders
•\tParticipate in application design reviews, walkthroughs and inspections, and conduct test reviews, including test plans, requirements, cases and automation coverage, and identify any gaps or optimizations that should be addressed
•\tParticipate in leadership meetings to communicate status, risk, insights, coverage, and provide reporting as required.
•\tCollect quality metric data and communicate test status/risks to stakeholders for application releases
•\tWork closely with the program leadership team to provide summary of the application's test results and escalate any risks, dependencies or blockers that are impeding progress of validating the application
•\tProvide input into performance appraisal process for department employees and help identify top technical talent
•\tParticipate in the Test Engineering Guild, to develop and implement enterprise quality standards, processes, tools and methodologies, and interface with other teams across the organization to leverage their insights and experience
•\tCommunicate quality standards established by the Guild and provide leadership to team members in validating application functionality through the implementation of test strategies, frameworks, tools, reports, etc.
•\tLead complex initiatives and projects
•\tProvide information about budget, timeline, and participation for large, enterprise projects and communicate regularly with program leadership
•\tAssist in incorporating test strategies and acceptance criteria based on customer scenarios and insights from customers using the product, in partnership with the Operations teams
•\tParticipate in requirements review, story elaborations and testing activities
•\tEnsure all application teams provide necessary automation test coverage for operations teams to use in Ci/Cd automated quality gates
•\tRaise process improvement opportunities, and identify and address tech debt
•\tIdentify opportunities to improve effectiveness and time-to-market
•\tProvide technical support, coaching, and mentoring to junior team members
•\tProvide input for performance appraisal processes of junior employees and/or team members


All About You
•\tAt least 10-12 year degree in a related field (or certifications and comparable experience)
•\tExperience in advanced code development, code review, and construction and use of automation frameworks.
•\tExperience in building automation frameworks, acceptance and integration test automation scripts
•\tSuccessfully developed high quality test strategies and text execution; recognized test environment preparation needs
•\tAbility to analyze application logs and assist engineers by utilizing basic debugging techniques
•\tSuccessfully led multiple test paths simultaneously
•\tSuccessfully validated one or more application codebases via automation, for new feature functionality and regression testing
•\tExperience in Agile testing methodologies and tools, unit and integration testing, and data virtualization tools
•\tBasic understanding of validation techniques and Continuous Testing
•\tFamiliarity with UI automation frameworks, tools, and techniques to validate user interfaces (mobile, portal, web, etc.)
•\tAble to lead project teams, collaborate with business partners, vendor/ consulting organizations and peer level professionals from other IT disciplines
•\tMentored and coached your less experienced team members
•\tSuccessfully led project test teams; collaborated with business partners, product owners, vendors, consulting organizations and peer-level professionals across IT disciplines
•\tDemonstrated expertise in Continuous Testing practices
•\tReviewed and analyzed testing frameworks and management tools

Tools:
Automation framework, CICD, Jenkins, Postman, Appium, TestNG, Maven, IntelliJ, Playwright
•\tBroad IT experience including requirements gathering and relationship building with business clients
•\tExperienced in scripting, performance testing, and application development
•\tSuccessfully collected performance metrics, built performance environment data sets and identified process improvements
