Latin America Application Technology Associate Scientist

Purpose:

The Research group, Crop Health R&D (CH R&D) from Corteva Agriscience is looking for an Application Technology Associate Scientist to conduct research & development activities in the areas of application technology. The delivery systems requirements in the various geographies differ due to crop and weed spectrum differences as well as cultural use practices.  The ability to maintain an understanding of these differing requirements is critical to the long-term growth and success of our crop protection portfolio. The Associate AT Scientist leverages his/her formulation/application expertise to develop proprietary and innovative Corteva solutions with significant business impact for the company, provides technical support to our customers and key stakeholders, as well as supports the launch and introduction of new formulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Understands customer needs / market trends to influence formulation design & development to ensure the product meets or exceeds the customer’s handling needs from receiving the product to successfully applying it to the target crop.
Works closely with the senior application technology specialist and formulation scientists, ensure full evaluation and characterization of new formulations for application in the regional markets.
Identifies and reports any technical issues.
Provides quick response to customer complaints.
Works closely to support senior/lead scientists in the laboratory.
Demonstrate presentations or reports that detail complex ideas into clear results and proposals; communicates properly to influence internal and external audiences.
Develop test protocols for the evaluation of new formulation performance in spray equipment/irrigation system, focusing on product integrity during mixing/loading and dispensing. Protocols may also be used to evaluate product integrity during adverse storage conditions and product stability after extended storage.
Communicates with application equipment manufacturers and distributors, custom applicators, research institutes and Universities, and other parties to monitor new application innovations.
Provides advice on the correct use of our products and technical support to our customer-facing employees and customers. 
Provides expertise in the investigation of application or product handling problems.
Provides input in the development and validation of clean-out procedures for application equipment and sprayers.
Acts as an EH&S (Environmental, Health & Safety) advocate for the working group, ensuring understanding and adherence to policies and procedures. Leads the team in promoting best practices, habits, and behaviors.

Qualifications:

Bachelor´s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Agronomist, Agriculture Engineering.
Others: Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Polymer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and related fields.
Active CREA or CRQ.
Minimum 1- year technical research experience in crop protection or related areas (e.g. agrochemical, pharmaceutical, veterinary, consumer goods, etc…).
Experience and familiarity with agricultural application technologies used in crop protection, including ground-based systems, and irrigation-based systems.
Good understanding of delivery systems requirements and the regulatory constraints in the LA region.
Good problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion (coordination, development and delivery).  Demonstrated significant involvement in designing studies, carrying out experiments, interpreting data, etc. to meet project milestones.
Interpersonal, proactiveness and leadership skills.  
Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders from multiple backgrounds.
Ability to work in a matrix organization.
Good verbal and written communication skills.  
A solid track record of documentation.
Advanced in English is mandatory. 
Availability to travel as required.
