Job Description
African Infrastructure Investment Managers (“AIIM”) is one of the pre-eminent private equity infrastructure managers in Africa, having raised over USD4.5bn in capital over the last two decades. With 5 offices on the continent, AIIM has invested in more than 20 African countries, representing over 74 investments across the Power, Digital infrastructure, Transportation and Midstream sectors. AIIM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI), one of the largest private alternative investment managers in Africa, with assets under management of USD7.6 billion. OMAI manages private equity and impact funds as well as infrastructure funds through AIIM. We aim to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns as well as make a positive social impact across Africa.
Responsibilities
The role will be in the investment team and will report to the Head of Strategic Initiatives. The successful candidate will get exposure to the full breadth of the business as well as ongoing engagement with the senior executives and regional investment teams. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across the business and with external clients and partners equally.
Responsibilities are broad and cover both administrative and technical aspects, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Support senior team in investor identification and origination and sector research;Develop relationships with internal stakeholders to support the reporting and information requirements for AIIM and investors;Performing activities associated with compliance, governance and internal approvals for new product initiatives;Developing relationships with existing and new clients through investor pitches, investor reporting and due diligence processes;Taking primary responsibility for developing the content of product specific presentation materials;Managing data room content and access for investor engagements;Assisting, as required, with the preparation of investor reports, due diligence materials and responses to investor fundraising queries;Maintaining fundraising pipelines and progress reporting for open mandates;Preparing and managing information requests for industry bodies, RfPs and investor / consultant due diligence for new mandates; Ongoing analysis of the operating environment, including global industry trends and market intelligence to provide input into new product development;Managing fund models to track mandate performance against original forecasts and industry benchmarks; andSupporting the product development process, assisting in the analysis of potential new strategic growth initiatives.Required Experience and core competencies
Have a minimum of an Honours degree in a Financial discipline4-6 years’ experience in fundraising and investor relations within an Infrastructure Manager, Private Equity Manager, Placement Agent or Investment Bank (M&A, corporate finance or project finance)Excellent financial modelling skillsFinancial acumen – the capacity to demonstrate knowledge of and insight into financial principles and processes and identify inconsistencies in dataAbility to apply sound business judgment and an analytical, pragmatic and creative approach to problem solvingAttention to detail and strong focus of quality of resultsExperience and knowledge of alternative investment products and fund structures including legal, tax and regulatory requirementsDesktop research capabilityTechnically proficient (advanced) in Excel, Word, PowerPoint essential.Project/process managementAbility to plan and prioritise effectively and meet deadlinesCommercial orientationExcellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishPersonality Attributes
