Background/IRC Summary:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a private, non-political, non-profit, and non-religious organization. For over 90 years, we have been providing humanitarian assistance to communities affected by conflict and natural disasters in more than 40 countries. Since 2008, the IRC has been active in Myanmar, delivering humanitarian assistance in areas such as health, protection, water, and sanitation, specifically targeting families impacted by conflict and natural disasters.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Mobile Clinic Nurse reports to Medical Doctor. This position is based in Mandalay or Sagaing Region with approximately 90% of time required for travel inside earthquake affected sites and/ or isolated villages from Mandalay and Sagaing Region.

Major Responsibilities:

Implementation of clinical care in targeted IDPs camps/villages

Assist Medical Doctor to prepare monthly work plan of PHC mobile team to cover targeted IDP camps/ villages regularlyAssist Medical Doctor in giving appropriate medical care to the patients, according to MOHS and IRC protocols and administer medicines as prescribed by Medical DoctorAssist Medical Doctor for establishing diseases surveillance system and outbreak response as needed.Provide proper quality care related with MNCH and RH in line with MOHS and IRC protocols as neededInvolved in the proper triage of patients presenting to clinicsProvide appropriate health education session during drug dispensing to patientsEducate a patient about the clinical condition that he/she suffered and explain the possible side effect of medicationsPerform laboratory test (e.g., Malaria RDT) and/ or collect test samples as deemed necessaryEnsure strict adherence to universal precautions in the health clinicEnsure strict adherence to procedure of infection prevention and waste disposal managementFollow and ensure hygienic clinical care.Perform wound management and assist in minor procedure if needed

Record keeping and medical supplies management

Administer and dispense drugs as prescribed by the Medical Doctor and to ensure that the patient is clear on how to take the medication (correct dosage/ frequency and duration).Record the drugs dispensed to every patient in daily consumption register/ record book.Complete and keep proper medical records and registers.Manage stock of drugs and PHC clinic commodities.Assist Medical Doctor to manage clinic database including data compilation, entry and reporting.Ensure not to stock out of drugs at the clinic by the collaboration with medical doctors and Drug and Commodities Assistant.

Monitoring and evaluation

Coordinate with M & E officer to organize data entry and analysis of monthly PHC mobile team activities and achievements in the standard IRC – Humanitarian Health Response Database.Assist Medical Doctor and coordinate with M & E officer to prepare IRC Global Minimum Health Indicators Report, Monthly Data Reports, etcPrepare and report weekly and monthly EWARS reports and MUAC screening report.

Other

Coordinate with program support teams to implement project activities in time.Coordinate with community health officer, health promoter to create IEC materials and provide health promotion activities.Coordinate with health counselor to integrate MHPSS component in mobile clinic activities.Assist Medical Doctor to provide procurement documents in advance as needed.In collaboration with other members of the health project team, participate in the design and implementation of formative assessments and baseline studies in order to identify health priorities and practices among the IDP and community.Remain flexible to perform other duties as required or requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

Valid licensed nurse with B.N.Sc or diploma of nursingFavorable to person with experience on medical response to disaster area, surveillance and control of communicable disease in disaster and conflict affected areasSensitivity to the needs and priorities of conflicted affected populationsAdaptable, flexible and mature in judgmentHave ability and motivate to travel in remote IDP camps/ villages in Kachin StateBasic knowledge on MS packageGood English language is an assetGood Local language is an assetIf a suitable applicant is found, an interview will be conducted before the position deadline.

Myanmar nationals with relevant skills sets and proven experience of working at international level are strongly encouraged.
