The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development. The Center is Africa-based and African-led, with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and a West Africa Regional Office (WARO), in Dakar, Senegal. APHRC seeks to drive change by developing strong African research leadership and promoting evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) across sub-Saharan Africa.

APHRC seeks to recruit an ICT Support Officer to join a team of other IT professionals at the Center.

Duties/ Responsibilities

Monitoring of the helpdesk system and general user support within the office. Set up, configure and deploy hardware and software. Set up antivirus and provide day-to-day support. Prepare and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all IT hardware & software. Be familiar with ICT policies and ensure their implementation through staff awareness and training sessions. Manage the disaster recovery process and ensure regular daily backup is taken. Monitor and maintain proper inventory of all ICT hardware and software.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent. At least one (1) year of relevant experience. Have excellent customer service skills. Have knowledge of a variety of hardware, software, and operating systems (e.g. Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and basic Linux operations). Have good knowledge of various hardware, software, and network troubleshooting skills.
