About this opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Privacy Program Director to Head up our privacy program governance unit. This role is pivotal in setting the program’s strategic direction while ensuring effective execution across policies, processes, and tools. The Privacy Program Director will oversee a team dedicated to privacy program management and work closely with internal stakeholders across legal, security, compliance, and business functions to drive a culture of privacy and ethical data processing.
The ideal candidate has deep expertise in global privacy regulations and frameworks and can bridge the gap between high-level strategy and operational execution. While a legal background is not required, strong knowledge of privacy requirements and practical implementation experience are essential. It is also essential to have comprehensive knowledge of how to utilize the privacy management tool OneTrust to optimize a privacy program.
This role reports directly to Ericsson’s Chief Privacy Officer.
What you will do
• Maintain a sound understanding of Ericsson’s business activities and applicable laws/regulations in the Data Privacy field
• Monitor, track and assess the rapidly evolving landscape of privacy relevant laws and regulation, as well as industry
approaches to privacy program management
• Provide operational guidance and advice on privacy-program related matters to the Market Areas, Group Functions and Business Areas, and collaborate with the Group DPO to assess and implement the privacy program, including optimizing the effectiveness and requirements for record of processing activities, cross-border data transfers, and Data Protection Impact Assessments
• Provide privacy support for risk assessments and other processes in our privacy management tool (OneTrust)
• Drive the update of the privacy strategy and policy requirements across Ericsson and ensure guidance and training to enable the organization to adequately document and operationalize the privacy program
• Proactively draft and distribute appropriate privacy trainings and awareness and embrace a culture of privacy compliance
You will bring
• A minimum of 7 years working experience as a business lawyer with substantive privacy and security experience or substantive privacy and security experience with an engineering or technical background.
• Substantial knowledge of privacy regulations, industry standards and best practices
• Good business knowledge/understanding
• Ability to independently handle and manage privacy matters and prioritize conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast-paced environment.
• Experience setting up and operationalizing a privacy program in a multinational company, updating privacy and security-related risk assessments and other control and assurance documentation.
• A high level of integrity and strong analytical and communication skills
• A willingness to be a standout colleague who initiates and inspires changes
• Solid understanding and interest in new technologies
• Comprehensive knowledge of OneTrust as a privacy management tool
• Fluency in English, second language desirable
