Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the hardware infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! The CSCP organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as plan, source, make, deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), sustainability, and decommissioning of datacenter assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is supported by more than 300 datacenters around the world that enable services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries. Cloud Manufacturing Operations and Fulfillment (CMOF) organization within CSCP manages business operations performance and supplies hardware to the datacenters. Well-defined and executed supply chain management ensures reliable, on-time performance and optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. **Responsibilities** Design • Assists in data gathering using established criteria for external supplier or partner selection. Implements or recommends technical solutions to common quality and design challenges, with guidance from others. • Gathers information and participates in make-versus-buy decisions based on complexity, financial impact, quality, reliability, and time duration. Participates in creating intellectual property. Files patents within own area of scope and complete necessary patent documentation. Develops design documentation which may include drawings, specifications, or diagrams for features of well-defined products with guidance and direction from a manager or other engineers. • Develops basic knowledge of industry trends, competitor products, the customer experience, and advances in various engineering fields. Consults with other engineers to help understand and apply advanced concepts. • Reads device specification sheets and interprets common details required to design and test various hardware features. • Assists in the creation of robust, scalable, secure, and extensible designs and/or verification plans for the hardware engineering aspects of well-defined products or features. responsibility descriptionProject ImplementationObtains input from functional experts regarding opportunities to affect downstream execution of projects by resolving issues and executing design tradeoffs within scope. • Evaluates the essential details of the reliability of materials, properties, and techniques used in production.Assists in implementing risk assessments (e.g., supplier or partner delays, incomplete specs, or tool issues) into test plans. • Researches new tools, technologies, methods for project implementation. Provides recommendations to project team members as to which tool is appropriate. • Chooses appropriate parts needed to support product development. Implements and tracks product plans, under guidance from other engineers. responsibility descriptionReporting and Documentation • Follows established procedures to create detailed reports and functional specifications for a well-defined product feature or extension. Uses information from product development audits and test/verification. • Documents essential details about materials, components, and/or assemblies for a device via accepted release processes. Accurately records and tracks changes to designs following established processes with some guidance from other engineers. Assists in developing training materials, documents, and templates, under guidance from a manager. responsibility descriptionTesting and Verification • Ensures that test requirements are included in documentation and specifications for a feature or product. • Reviews verification plans to identify the appropriate test equipment for measuring a feature or product according to existing verification plans, with minimal supervision from other engineers. Collaborates with other stakeholders to ensure test strategy is sound and meets constraints. Develops, reviews, and executes on test plans for standard features or products. • Writes design verification test cases using standard templates and test methodologies. Assists in developing automated testing solutions and independently conducts automated testing on standard feature areas or products. Gathers data for external testing supplier or partner selection options. • Assists in setting up and breaking down testing environments with guidance from other engineers. Follows safety guidelines. • Participates in the development of dashboards or reports for testing and quality metrics. • Analyzes and interprets results of data and data/statistical analyses to identify common problems or flaws that may affect a feature or product design change and brings them to the attention of other engineers or team leads. **Qualifications** **Required/minimum qualifications** Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR equivalent experience. **Additional or preferred qualifications** Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
