Global Trade Manager

Solenis is a leading global producer of specialty chemicals focused on delivering sustainable solutions for water-intensive industries, including consumer, industrial, institutional, food and beverage, and pool and spa water markets.

We are seeking an experienced Export Manager to lead and oversee the end-to-end export processes across Europe for all our Business Units. This role is responsible for managing export planning and execution to drive export market growth. The role includes accountability for export and import operations of finished goods, manage export declarations, and handle exception cases efficiently. The role also includes document management, post-arrival services, and record-keeping maintenance. Success in this role requires strong leadership, regulatory expertise, and cross-functional coordination across teams and regions to ensure efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Export operations management:

Responsible and accountable for export and import operations of finished goods.Serve as the first line of defense for Solenis compliance in all export activities.Oversee Export Declarations and consular documents management (both in-house and through external brokers).Act as the Export Expert on exception handling and provide solutions for complex export challenges.

Document Handling:

Manage security and declaration filing, ensuring compliance with international regulations.Oversee the creation and distribution of the Broker and Shipper Letter of Instruction & local document requirementsOversee post-arrival services and payments to external partners.Maintain responsibility and accountability for recordkeeping maintenance, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of trade-related documents.

Export Planning:

Oversee the end-to-end export process, ensuring smooth coordination between order processing, planning, and execution across multiple teams.Manage order coordination aligning with supply planning teams to optimize replenishment and inventory levels.Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers to optimize shipping and clearance processes.

Leadership and Financial Oversight:

Lead and mentor a team across multiple countries, ensuring consistent training on export procedures and compliance.Monitor export budgets and implement cost-saving measures without compromising operational efficiency.Cross-Functional Collaboration and Project management:Act as a subject matter expert on Global Trade Management, providing guidance to departments such as Legal, Finance, and within Supply Chain.Participate in regional and global supply chain meetings to align export strategies with overall business goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in international business, Supply Chain Management, or related fields. Professional certifications (e.g., CCS, CHB) are a plus.Minimum of 5-7 years in export management or international logistics.5+ years of experience in managing teams, preferably across multiple regions.Familiarity with handling chemical shipments.Strong understanding of international trade regulations (HTS, ECCN classifications, INCOTERMS).Proficiency in global trade management systems (SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.

Leadership Skills & Competencies:

Proficiency in global trade management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP).Strong understanding of international shipping, logistics, and supply chain management.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Strong communication and negotiation skills.Ability to work cross-functionally and interact with diverse teams across regions.Fluency in English; additional European language skills (e.g., German, Dutch, Spanish) are a plus.Proactive and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving capabilities.Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Adaptable to evolving trade regulations and international market conditions.
