What You'll Do

Our Digital Collaboration tribe has a vision to create a connected environment that enables BCGers to securely collaborate internally and externally via simple experience, powered by smart platforms and tools. This role will lead our Messaging, Communities & E-mail squad. (e.g. Slack, Teams Messaging, Outlook and other tools).

 

The Product Owner must be a leader who is customer-centric and enjoys working with teams to design and deliver exceptional products to customers. You will lead a Squad and work directly with its members to prioritize and manage what needs to be done and by when. Working with Squad members without line management authority over them will be key—you are a servant-leader and embody that in how you approach the work. You will coordinate closely with your Product Team Lead to stay aligned on business goals and make sure your Squad is progressing and delivering against them. You will also represent the voice of the customer, both internal and external such as clients, and make sure that Squad members understand their needs and preferences. To get this work done, you will own and prioritize the backlog of user stories that your Squad members will use to inform their work, and be responsible for supporting and motivating your squad members

 

Among your responsibilities, you will:

Deliver business results and customer valueEnsure that the product is built/updated in an incremental way, releasing new working features at the end of each quad and creating value for the customerTracking product performance to inform future workDelivering on specific and measurable KPIs to be defined for your SquadManaging relevant product budget process and supporting Portfolio Lead in engaging with funding processServe as the voice of customer or end-userTranslating the voice and needs of customer into user stories, engaging users as neededEngaging in continuous discovery (e.g., via surveys & interviews) to understand user needsLeveraging empirical and qualitative data to assess feature performance and inform prioritizationDetermining tradeoffs involving customer value, cost, and speed to executionRepresenting user needs to ensure they are understood and integrated into the Squad’s workFacilitating product demos to empower Squad members with real-time feedback from usersOversee what is delivered by the Squad and whenPrioritizing work through a well-organized backlog of user stories and clearly communicating what needs to be done and by whenDefining and clearly communicating acceptance criteria for output based on business & customer needsSupport and enabling the Squad to get its work doneRegularly engaging with the Squad to offer feedback on work-in-progress and clarify requirementsUnderstanding dependencies on other squads (e.g. Network, Data & Analytics, etc) and working with PO counterparts to schedule and address.Engaging with Chapter Leads regarding resourcing and functional expertise required in Squad (Development, Engineering, QA, Change, etc.)Providing feedback as part of performance management of Squad members and other members of the PortfolioSet an overall vision to direct and inform the Squad’s workWorking closely with the Portfolio Team Lead to understand and drive alignment on the Portfolio’s business strategy, goals, and objectivesTranslating Portfolio’s objectives into a clear vision (e.g., via KPIs, sprint goals) for your Squad to inform the creation and prioritization of the Squad's backlog of workSharing information about the Squad’s output and priorities with other Product Owners to ensure alignment across the organizationEnable the organization’s new way of workingModelling behaviors to support the organization’s transformation to a new way of workingActively creating and maintaining a Squad culture based on the organization and Agile behaviorsProviding informal and formal feedback within context of larger performance management system Developing and coaching Product Owners and Product ManagersManaging and developing direct reports to help improve individual and team performanceRegularly collecting and providing continuous feedback as part of performance management process for direct reports

What You'll Bring

Total 7+ years’ relevant experience as Product Owner / Manager, including preferably also experience as Scrum Master or Agile Coach/ Mentor in 1 or more organizationsTotal 7+ years’ relevant experience in various Digital Collaboration products such as messaging, e-mail, content collaboration and productivity productsAgile certifications, preferably Scrum.org (Professional Scrum Product Owner) or Scrum Alliance (Certified Product Owner)Understanding of agile principles and ways of workingGood understanding of technology enabled business transformation, Digital transformation, Organizational transformation, delivering enterprise-level IT and Digital projectsDivergent thinker who can converge ideas into tangible productsExceptional communications and stakeholder management skillsExperience in consulting is a plus

Who You'll Work With

Every member of your squad, some of whom will be members of Engineering, Change, and UX chapters.Internal users, translating their voice and needs into user stories and engaging users as neededPortfolio Leaders, who will set the vision, roadmap, budget, and priorities & OKRs for the tribes and subsequently, for the squadsScrum Masters, which will act as your right hand to remove impediments and will assess you in dealing with the different artifacts and ceremoniesOther Product Owners within BCG, to share best practices and ensure alignment between squads and a cultureAgile Coaches, with whom you will share passion about Agile ways of working and with whom you will shape promote business agility (within your teams and in the whole company)
