The position
As a (Senior) Global Medical Director, you will lead a team of Global Medical Managers and Associate Global Medical Directors and you will be accountable for the development, planning and execution of the Global Medical Affairs Strategies for our Cardiomyopathy portfolio.


Reporting to the Vice President (VP) for Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) in Global Medical Affairs, the (Senior) Global Medical Director will be part of the VP area leadership team and will represent Global Medical Affairs in global decision boards working closely with cross-functional stakeholders in Marketing, Market Access, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Research and Translational Medicine in the Global HQ Office as well as the Novo Nordisk regions and affiliates.


Your main responsibilities will be focused on: 

The development of the Global Medical Affairs strategy including molecule, physician groups and disease specific strategies as well as the publication strategy building on new scientific insight in alignment with the Global Project Teams Coordinate and distribute tasks according to company needs and personal development goals of employees; regularly update roles and responsibilities to build a strong performing team with diversity in skills and experience Ensure scientific alignment and facilitate that scientific knowledge is appropriately communicated and understood internally and externally from global to local across the world External liaison between Novo Nordisk and the scientific community, physicians, and physician organisations Responsible for overseeing scientific dialogue and communication strategy at international scientific meetings and conferences Initiating and overseeing the launch preparation for a phase 3 compounds in cardiomyopathy in close collaboration with regions and affiliates and the cross-functional team (Marketing and Market Access)

  

The position calls for an outgoing mature leader who can autonomously work as the strategic partner within interdisciplinary project teams and provide input to clinical development plans from a clinical, scientific and communication perspective.  


Leadership qualifications must be evident e.g., from earlier leadership positions or project management; the position builds on strong people management skills and a willingness to develop the team and continue to drive performance. 

 

Qualifications
To be a competitive candidate, you should have: 

An MD with PhD and/or specialist degree preferably in the field of cardiology  Extensive pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Drug Development and/or Evidence Generation functions and preferably within relevant therapy area People and/or project management experience with proven ability to build and develop high performing teams Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills and ability to navigate effectively in an international matrix organisation Strong business acumen with evidence of strategic, tactical, and operational leadership Fluency in English, both written and spoken

About the department
Global Medical Affairs, CVD is a VP area responsible for building and delivering consistent scientific communication across all phases of drug development within the therapeutic areas of Heart Failure, Atherosclerotic/Ischemic Cardiovascular Disease (acute and Chronic) and Cardiomyopathy. The VP area consists of 3 director teams of high-performance individuals who are focused on innovative ways of working, has a strong sense of commitment and an open atmosphere. Our development pipeline within CVD is diverse and growing.
