Gateway Operations Manager
Job Purpose: Management of the bonded cage as well as inbound Gateway Sort Operations by planning and implementing strategies and tactics to ensure improvement in quality, service and transit time performance whilst managing costs.\nPRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES\n\n\nAchieve/improve Ops costs target\nAchieve functional KPIs\nPlanning, routing, sorting, scanning and managing inventory of bonded cage\nProcess Improvement\nCheckpoint compliance\nStaff roster planning\nTeam performance\nAccountability\nCoordination with customs authority\nBuilding rapport and strong prelateship with customs authority and other stakeholders\\\n\n\nNature & Scope:\n\n\nHandling inbound sort management \nHandling bonded cage daily activities\nEnsuring high level of sorting quality and timely connectivity of inbound cleared shipments\nManaging bonded cage day to day operations, inventory, and movements of inbound shipments\nCoordinating with customs authority and brokers to ensure smooth shipments handover during and after clearance completion\nCoordinating with various functions and responding to queries including local country and network\nEnsuring an effective rostering planning in accordance with inbound volumes\nResolving any arising problems and take corrective actions as dictated by operational contingencies.\nEvaluation of applicable procedures to ensure optimum level of performance\nLeading First Choice initiatives to enhance overall performance and cost management\nManage the security of the facility and operating systems within DHL network security policy\nEnsure day to day handling and management of shipments movements\nProvide guidance and approve shift plans, procedural changes, minor operational changes, and general organizational changes within the function\nMonitoring both individual and overall team performance and aligning with country and regional KPIs\nHandling team appraisal planning\nIdentify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department\nManagement of aged shipments, scanning, inventory and coordination with authorities to ensure timely transfer to customs\nEffective use of available spaces within gateway through\n\n\nQualifications:\n\n\nUniversity degree preferably in logistics and warehouse management \nFirst Choice certification is recommended\n\n\nExperience:\n\n\n5 Years of operational experience, preferably within logistics industry, customs and warehouse management\n\n\nKey Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:\n\n\nSoftware skills (Excel and PowerPoint)\nCustomer oriented\nCustoms knowledge – 5 years minimum\nPlanning and organizing of tasks to ensure function/country goals are met\nPeople development\nBuilding and leading teams\nEffective communication skills\n\n
