**_Director of Procurement – Global Vendor Technical Management_**
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Vendor Technical Management to lead our vendor technical management team within our Global Procurement organization. This role is pivotal in advancing our procurement and supply chain practices, ensuring supply continuity, and driving innovation. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with the ability to manage at all levels of the organization, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
**What You’ll Work On**
+ **Leadership and Strategy:**
+ Provide strategic direction and leadership to the vendor technical management team.
+ Develop and implement strategies to enhance vendor performance and supply chain efficiency.
+ Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence within the team.
+ Evolve and develop new value propositions for the team to improve supplier and Abbott performance across the enterprise.
+ Lead technology utilization to drive performance via a digital thread (i.e. how can we leverage digital twins, virtual visits, etc.).
+ **Supplier Performance Management:**
+ Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure alignment with company goals.
+ Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of supplier performance against KPIs, SLAs, and technical requirements.
+ Identify and drive opportunities for supplier improvement and innovation.
+ **Supply Chain and Risk Management:**
+ Develop and implement strategies to ensure supply continuity and mitigate risks within the supply chain.
+ Collaborate with suppliers to develop contingency plans and ensure business continuity.
+ Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to proactively address potential disruptions.
+ Liaison with R&D teams to champion Design for Manufacturability practices to ensure a more robust supply.
+ **Asset Health and Lifecycle Management:**
+ Oversee the technical performance and condition of supplier-managed assets.
+ Develop maintenance strategies and predictive analytics in collaboration with our suppliers and internal stakeholders to minimize downtime and optimize asset lifecycles.
+ Provide recommendations for technology upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning based on lifecycle data.
+ **Technical Collaboration and Compliance:**
+ Act as one of the primary technical points of contact between internal teams and suppliers.
+ Ensure suppliers meet technical specifications and regulatory compliance of the Abbott product produced by our suppliers.
+ Facilitate the resolution of technical issues and support new product introductions or transitions.
+ Communicate the vision of this new function broadly to align with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field. An MBA or master’s degree in supply chain management or a technical field is highly preferred.
+ 10+ years of experience in vendor management, technical operations, or supply chain roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
+ Proven track record in driving supplier performance, managing risks, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Strong understanding of asset health and lifecycle management principles.
+ Excellent leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
**Preferred Skills:**
+ Proficiency with specific polymer processing and packaging technologies related to high-speed automation and assembly lines, injection stretch blow molding, multi-layer continuous extrusion blow molding, injection molding, can manufacturing, etc.
+ Experience with data analytics tools and techniques for predictive maintenance.
+ Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in the healthcare and nutrition

The base pay for this position is $147,300.00 – $294,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
