The Opportunity
This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in our Electrophysiology (EP) business. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. 

This leader of the New Product Introduction (NPI) function will collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the Abbott Electrophysiology Division in consistently delivering innovative solutions that create exceptional customer experiences. Key will be the cultivation, by this leader, of a culture of focused execution and accountability that is adept at balancing risk, making appropriate, timely decisions, and meeting NPI program objectives.

This leader will establish & sustain an operational foundation for NPI Portfolio Management focusing on building organizational capability, effective supply chains and robust external manufacturing processes.

What You’ll Work On

Lead the New Product Introduction (NPI) function, ensuring optimized progression through product development to full launch

Plans and implements supply of materials to support NPI programs through effective and efficient sourcing strategies in conjunction with R&D, Commodity Mgt

Develops reliable and cost-effective manufacturing processes at external suppliers and their sub-tiers to support NPI programs

Identifies, prioritizes, and manages supply chain Risk Mitigation initiatives, leveraging data-driven analysis to support decision-making.

Ensures effective transition from NPI into sustaining Supply Chain

Responsible for evaluation and identification of technical manufacturing capabilities of external suppliers.  Leads activities to close gaps where applicable. 

Provides subject matter expertise during supplier due diligence assessments.

Ensures design for manufacturability & design for supply chain considerations are effectively incorporated into the Design process

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise in Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodology, and process optimization.

Bachelor’s Degree in STEM area of concentration

15+ Years of Experience: A combination of manufacturing process engineering and new product development in a program manager or senior engineering manager role within the Medical Device industry.

Demonstrated record of successfully launching new products in a medical device manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated experience working with complex supply chains

Leads with integrity, passion, and humility

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Degree: A Master’s degree in engineering or science

An MBA or Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.

Lean Six Sigma Practitioner: Certified Lean Six Sigma Practitioner.

Experience managing a portfolio of medical device programs across their lifecycle, including new products, sustaining engineering, advanced technology development, cost productivity, and supplier transfers.

Experience leading programs that require cross-functional teams comprised of R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Regulatory & Quality

Experience with Catheter product development or manufacturing. List fundamental technologies ( extrusion coatings etc)

Adept at working in ambiguous situations, tight focus on detail; able to balance risk with action

Executive Presence: Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

The base pay for this position is $147,300.00 – $294,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
