Title and Summary
Director, Software EngineeringOverviewMastercard Services is responsible for safeguarding trust in payments, both now and in future. We ensure that billions of transactions and interactions are safe, simple and smart. The Business Rules Engineering & Strategy team is looking for a Director, Software Development, to drive forth our mission of building modern and resilient solutions that provide transaction level decisioning capabilities. Business Rules embed intelligence into the transactional cycle by leveraging scoring models, cohesive rule strategies and behavioral data, and when combined with our agile rule development & deployment capabilities, results in a competitive advantage for all stakeholders, in the entire payment ecosystem.
This individual will help shape the direction of the program by partnering with product teams to understand their roadmaps and objectives, and work with engineering teams design and develop the technology solutions needed to deliver capabilities to market. Additionally, this role has strategic level objectives, with responsibilities of ensuring that the program is optimally positioned to respond to growing technology demands
Role Responsibilities:
•\tFormally supervise and coach 4+ feature teams of engineers to build, enhance, and support multiple rules base products/services in the delivery of internal or market-facing Products, Platforms, or Product bundles
•\tEngage regularly with product managers to understand direction and goals for their products
•\tWork with business/product owners to develop and deliver new services to introduce new products and bundles
•\tEnsure objectives and development plans are established at the start of the year and reviewed continuously throughout the year
•\tRecruit and hire the right talent, with a focus on talent that raises the bar.
•\tProvide and facilitate timely feedback, coaching in the moment, and mentoring for staff at all levels
•\tEmulate and drive Mastercard Way behaviors through their behavior, recognitions, coaching, and employee engagement
•\tManage and optimize budgets, forecasting, and cost allocation while delivering on business needs
•\tProvide strategic thinking and leadership related to a wide range of applications and systems, or software-development methodologies
•\tBenchmark and drive engineering productivity, quality, and technology policy compliance in the areas of ownership
•\tProactively share and seek knowledge within their Guild/Program to drive reuse of patterns/libraries/practices and enhance productivity

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
