ROLE SUMMARY

The position is mainly responsible to lead the Legal function by providing integrated and cost-effective legal services and support to MAFP Corporate & Development Business Units 

ROLE PROFILE

Provide comprehensive legal advice to the CEO and senior management on various matters including corporate governance, commercial contracts, employment law, intellectual property, and compliance.Develop and implement legal strategies for the Business Unit (BU) to safeguard the company's interests while supporting business objectives.Offer legal support to the BU and its affiliates in all operating countries, including advice on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions.Handle legal representation of the BU in negotiations with third parties and advise on corporate structure to ensure compliance with laws and cost-effectiveness.Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements and contracts to protect the company's interests, and work closely with business heads on all BU matters.Develop standardized contracts and documents for the BU's operations following industry best practices, and prepare necessary policies and procedures.Conduct legal workshops to improve legal awareness within the BU, maintain relationships with senior government executives, and manage external legal counsels as required.Oversee the protection of the company's intellectual property portfolio, provide legal support to Human Capital, and ensure compliance with the BU's Code of Conduct and policies.

REQUIREMENTS

Possess a Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school, with a preference for a Master's degree in law.Additional qualifications in business studies or real estate management/development would be beneficial.Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in a reputable Commercial Legal Firm or Real Estate Development company.Proven experience managing legal teams and external legal counsels, with sound knowledge of international/local laws.Strong understanding of corporate governance, compliance, risk management, and dispute resolution.Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance legal and business needs under pressure.
