The Opportunity

Directs the software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining PC application software and embedded firmware for a medical monitoring system according to business needs while meeting stringent FDA regulatory requirements. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Main responsibilities-

Software development within the health care products divisionCreating and maintaining an efficient, highly motivated, software development organizationFunctional management of the Software development groupManaging/overseeing outsourced development activitiesSoftware and firmware design and development to be used in medical diagnostic devices (both Class II and III)

Responsible for leading-

Design of applications and system level software for systems with embedded microprocessorsDevelopment of software for products under a disciplined product development process that meets FDA requirementsWorking in a team environment to reach common objectives with aggressive schedulesSpecification, design, testing, and transfer to manufacturing of medical monitoring devices (in accordance with applicable US and International industry regulations and standards)

What You’ll Work On

Software Development Engineering functional manager responsible for staffing and maintaining the groups high level of technical competenceRecruit and manage highly competent software developer and software technical leadersEstablish relationships with outsourced development organizations based on justifiable business needsDevelop and implements binding agreements between such organizationsDevise and maintain the software development organizations overall budgetSpecification, design, verification and validation of medical monitoring instruments in accordance with applicable medical regulatory standardsDevelopment of technical project plans and schedules covering software development activities (meeting all design control and product development SOP requirements)Development of software design requirements and detailed design specifications for implementation of software designs per design development processEvaluation of selected designs through testing/analysis and full documentation of the resultsWork effectively with other departments to define requirements and resolve issues during product developmentDelivery of software that meets project technical, cost and timeline requirementsResponsibility for all Software Engineering aspects of a program; Follow approved design control procedures for product development in accordance with FDA guidelinesDirect the software engineering group, providing mentoring, technical guidance and career growth planning

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical disciplineMaster’s degree in a technical disciplineMinimum 15 years of related career experienceTrack record in software developmentMinimum 10 years of supervisory experienceTechnical background and direct experience both developing and supervising software for leading edge healthcare products

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience managing outsourced development projectsExperience in development of medical devices

The base pay for this position is $169,300.00 – $338,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
